New Season, New Posting Rules

If it's in here, it's probably a good idea to read it.

I don't feel positive that two of the OGs of both CCs have been booted (temporarily?) and I understand it was a difficult decision, but it can't be a total coincidence that long-time MIA posters have come out of the woodwork and back to contributing to the hockey discussions.

It's not - and just to be clear, there was no 'deal in place' for this to happen.

It's a case of things running their course.

My guess is that it has a lot to do with the start of the new year. People turning over leaves, popping in, that kind of stuff.

Fuck me. I need to pay attention to the Announcements forum…..I was oblivious to this until 10 minutes ago.

Do wanna add my two cents.

First, I understand why it came to this. Both guys got multiple chances and deleting posts or suspending and reprimanding has to get tedious for Corn, Rats, and now Donny.

The ignore feature can work…..unfortunately guys like Cuz, Carl, Megs, and myself, (examples only of course) have too much fun pot shotting back at both those reprobates for mutual shits and giggles so the quoted replies start to stack up. So I’ll own my part in this mess.

They had seemed to smarten up a bit, but even without encouragement from the aforementioned inciters, they were ultimately one another’s worst foil.

At the end I have to say that a Blobless Chef was a greater boon to this place for discussion and laughs than a Chefless Blob. The big cat was legendary, I loved going at it with him and agreed with plenty of his takes…..but his personal life took a bad turn and over the last 6 months or so every time he came back for a bit he would go into an Elmer diatribe without provocation and generally just piss all over this place. He couldn’t let it mellow.

If 2025 were a song it would seem to have been a fucking dirge.

We lost Doc, and that was a fucking tragedy.

Now we’ve lost two more, and it feels a bit like a travesty (though not of justice).

Ultimately this place cannot run like a democracy because if it came down to a vote over something like this most of us would ultimately have each others backs (which we’ve largely seen here). I would even vote to keep 5th…..yeah and you too JPP if it came down to it. 😜

I mean, are we the finest sort of reprobates or aren’t we?

The reemergence of a few of the “missing elite” is a welcome thing indeed.

I hope the salve of time healing all wounds can come into play down the line.

A final thought in light of the multiple vintage sightings…..

Does dbr have to add another r now?
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I'm not sure how many other MIA posters have returned but just confirming my random return had nothing to do with Blob & Dude getting banned.

I'm still re-familiarizing myself with the board so I just saw this and my initial reaction is - "this sucks!" I'm sad to see both of them gone because I liked both of them. Bikerdude is the reason I even found this place. I was posting on ESPN message boards back in the late '90s and he advertised CanucksCorner. For years I think he was one of the few posters on both CCs, so he remained a familiar face to me when the Central crew effectively took over Corner (there were so many more of you! ;) ). I really liked Blob and preferred his takes to the Dudes (but shh, don't tell him that! ;)

Having said all this, I respect the mods' decision. While I would personally love to see them post again, it must have gotten really bad to reach this stage! I had genuinely stopped lurking for years and while they are not the reason for that, I do remember their spats becoming nauseating so many years ago. I was always the type to 'scroll past' rather than block but I'm disappointed to learn that their feud continued this long!

Thanks Cornuck and let me add thank you for all the work you've done for this site for a very long time - it's a lot of extra work to be a mod and I'm pretty sure you've been at this gig for awhile.... like I remember you being a mod when I used to post here more regularly which is donkey years ago! ;)

Thanks to all the mods - this place would have died a long time ago without you!

And yeah, I'm planning to post more... just in time as the Canucks reach rock bottom!

I always found that Cornuck loves modblocking my adjectives unnecessarily claiming they're too saucy

I disagree

But also hope they see their fellow posters sticking up for them, and wanting them to be their best selves.

Opinion and point taken and understood.
Mods have to do what Mods have to do. I think I speak for everyone in saying that we appreciate their work, and respect their decisions.

But I am also on board with a search for creative solutions that can promote both maximum engagement and board tidiness.

Would it be possible to set up a system that would allow each of them to post only once per day, perhaps with a character limit? My theory is that would force them to self-edit and confine their posts to their best hockey takes, with no room left over for sniping at each other.

My thoughts are still the same.

They either come back, post like adults, or don't. Maybe "foeing" each other might help, but having Chef tell a mod to fuck off and such behavior doesn't inspire me.

I wasn’t aware RoyalDude told a mod to fuck off.

He’s been around long enough to know that that kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.
