Hronek Talks to Media About New Contract and Next Season

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QS7WcHmG7s

For anyone who cares, some1 rephrased JPat's question to him about injuries and why his play declined over the course of the season (around 4:30 mark).

Hronek takes a deep breathe and seems to open up by being honest. He says he could be stronger, so his production wouldn't decline over the course of the season. He's not exactly a rookie coming out of college and he played close to 80 games b4, so I'm a bit surprised by his answer. Sounds like fatique got to him a bit, maybe Tocc should have given him a couple maintenance days here and there.

Attaboy Filipe, that wasn't so hard was it? Suck it up buttercup. In a hockey mad market like Vancouver, you will face some tough questions that you will not like sometimes, but you are paid handsomely to be a professional, so act like it! Any of us avg joes here would luv to be in his shoes in a heartbeat, making millions playing a game that we luv. He should count his lucky stars.

Some1 from mgmt must have talked to him about it. :P

Personally, I enjoy it when a player tells the media to fucking suck a bag of dicks. It’s entertaining. It would be exhausting to answer the same silly questions over and over, and so when they tell the media off, it’s good stuff.

You be you, Filip.

Fucking media. I hate how they areal talking like the Canucks failed to sign the players they really wanted and had to go to plan C, D and E. They never had a chance to sign the two big names and there is no indication that they planned to go that route. Blowing 8-9 M on one player with so many holes left on the team was only a media driven narrative. Can you imagine the spin if they signed the other Jake for 7x9? It would have been panned as irresponsible over payment depleting the team of a defence.

Allvin was clear, they had set their targets, top 4, Debrusk, Heinen, Sherwood and Forbort and went out and got them. They had to spread the money around to get faster, tougher to play against with 200" players. I have seen no indication that they would have been in on any of the top names. They didn't have the money. I for one am glad Allvin used common sense to fill as many holes as he could.

Were there better players at 5 years, 5.5? Yes the defence could have been better if someone else was available before they turned to Desharnais. I suspect he was not near the top of their list but became the consolation prize.

I liked Donnies analysis of the Joshua deal. Perhaps in hindsight, being 20-20, had they known they were going to get Sherwood and Heinen, that is a deal they could have walked from. But guess what? They can trade him.

Media rant over, almost. No matter what the Canucks do/did, the media was going to criticize. I love how no-one was able to predict the Canuck's moves, other than saying they would have to go to plane C, or D and try to get Debrusk. What an insult to Debrusk.

DeBrusk and Hroenk can do interviews together this year as media payback.

Topper gets some cred for the Johsua take.

I would not argue with DeBrusks term.

I would debate Desharnais and the need for Joshua at 3.25 if we're signing Heinen and Sherwood.

Seems Dakotas money could have been put to a different use.

Zadorov perhaps and locate another like the 2 above.

Jesus Matt Sekeres looks like he swallowed a pop machine. A couple days ago it looked like he was trying to have a bottom goatee, but without the mustache part. It frames his third chin perfectly. Not sure what the purpose was. You can''t hide that much blubber without a blanket. Maybe a Billy Gibbons beard?? It looked like a guy had a dirty respirator on and then took it off. You could stuff a Swanson meal in between those neck folds. There's no call for that.

Fucking salad dodger.,

Sekeres is spiraling. I think most of those like Sekeres in that crowd of his era have yet to come to the realization they are in a dead industry. Willes saw the end and pulled out. Most of them are hanging on for dear life, there’s no money in that racket anymore. I feel sorry for some of them. There’s really only a few legitimates left in the city a Halford and Brough and a couple others, Daliwahl, Taylor maybe. The social media era has kicked the crap out of that scene. Times have changed. Who reads newspapers anymore? The next gen don’t. Who listens to the radio. I guess it’s all podcasting now, if you can rack up a following get the clicks for ad money, you might survive like a Joe Rogan

I try to listen to Halford and Brough mostly for their interview guests. Jason Brough seems to have good takes, not sure about Halford other than he picks his nose alot on the air on the tv simulcasts I was watching when I took the winter off this past year

Could be worse. Ron Mclean is a crotch watcher. Scott Oake grabs players legs.

When are these old losers going to go away? Brian Williams is still scratching at the door in his orange blazer. Bob Cole had to be taken out and shot. The Dude is correct. There's no money in the media anymore except for maybe the NFL and NBA. MLB doesn't pay anyone and we get stuck with clowns like Buck the Duck doing Jays games. An asshole like Joe Buck is revered for some reason. If he wasn't Jack Buck's son he'd be pumping gas.

They needed to be put to pasture already, no argument. It's not like there are a ton of likely candidates beating down the door to replace them. I'd say the sports media biz - at least in Canada - has fallen victim to the phenomenon of dubiously-qualified suits making decisions about on-air talent based on demographic checklists. You think Howie Meeker would get a sniff nowadays? Anglo Canada's sports media market is treated like one big Toronto market with some salutory nods to the colonies. Quebec's sports media market may as well be in a different country. Guys like Buck stick around because it serves the TO/S. Ontario audience out of sentimentality no matter what the rest of Canada thinks of him.

Dang, too bad. I really liked CapFriendly. Don't really like the look/layout of Puckpedia. Hopefully someone else will step up and make a good website for NHL players' contracts.

Anyone use/know of any other good websites out there for NHL players' contracts?

I do think Puckpedia is the best of the bunch, but to each their own.
