Is there a player in the league we wouldnt rather have than Sbisa at that contract ? Other than David Clarkson there isn't a worse contract in the NHL than Luca Sbisa's.
Andy macdonald, engelland, lecalvier, hemsky, Dustin brown, mike Richards, and bobby ryan to name a few.

Yes called out indeed . I feel like the Clantons and Mclowrys at the OK corral . It was a statement to provoke some life on this board . In reality I should have said its one of the ten or twenty worst in the league or that 99% of the contracts in the league are more palatable than it . I'm surprised the dude didn't respond or someone didn't say how Sbisa held the d together when there were some injuries for a half dozen games .

This might make it easier for you Blob...

I'm with the minority who couldn't understand the angst towards his play, not sure if that was because I was more disappointed with the play of the top 4, especially in the playoffs or because I was so desperate for any type of physical play that I was willing to over look his mistakes...

Speaking of physical play, someone mentioned Engelland as a player having a worse contract than Sbisa's which I agree with but what does it say when that player pretty much outplays the Canucks top 4 in last seasons playoff loss to the Flames?

The Canucks blue line is too vanilla...you can't describe it as a skilled group nor can you describe it as a physical group and with the talk of Corrado making the jump you add another tweener to the group...

Good to hear that some are saying that Pedan has a chance to see action with the team this year, snarl is something it desperately lacks ...

Take care...

Yeah, our blueline is so... meh. No one who really has a standout quality in any respect. Edler has a heavy shot, but it doesn't exactly translate into points and his heavy-hitting days appear to be over. What you see is what you get. Hamhuis plays a safe, effective style of hockey but doesn't excel at any one thing, except being safe and efficient. Tanev's standout quality is... being a gumby on skates and gets the puck out of the zone effectively more often than not. Weber has a hard shot, but that's it. Sbisa is... Sbisa, but he' the most physical of the bunch which says more about t rest of the blueline. Unless Hutton turns into an offensive revelation (still holding out hope) none of the prospects promise any significant characteristic to add to the team. They'll b good enough to get to the playoffs but none of them strike fear into anybody for any reason.

Here's hoping Benning turns his attention to the blueline soon.

No kidding. JB watched Chara for all those years...he has got to see how important a stud on D is.

haha nice way to describe our defense.

Canucks defense team VANILLA
Image

Edler - Vanilla [back injury has chilled out this once formidable dman]
Tanev - Vanilla to white [jedi defensive whiz, who gets hit a lot]
Hamhuis - Vanilla [defensive vet who can make a decent pass]
Weber - no sugar Vanilla [small point shot blaster and thats it]
Bartkowski - unknown
Sbisa - Rocky road [our only body checker on defense]
Corrado - Vanilla [Similar to weber]

If we trade Hamhuis, our "D" looks horrific.

Edler and Tanev are both top-4 guys (likely in that 2-3 range). Weber is a nice PP specialist but can't munch minutes. Sbisa and Bartkowski are both bottom-pairing guys and Corrado might not be a top-6 at this point.

On paper, we're much closer to Edmonton/Arizona on defense than we are to anyone else in our division. Conference-wide we're definitely near the bottom.

Top 30 for sure. Hey, wait. We have a bad contract, just like every other team. Wow. we need a new GM!!!!

"The process always involves attempts at a negotiated settlement. You have to believe that the district attorney does not have irrefutable evidence of guilt or they would absolutely pursue charges."

Sounds like her word against his. In the US that means the person who has the money to hire the best lawyer will win

How did Justin Schultz get to 3.9 so quickly?

Going through that list certainly puts things into perspective, suddenly Sbisa's contract doesn't look too bad after all. There are a number of decent contracts there but so many over payments. Just goes to show that the costs for dmen is very high.

91 points in 203 games.

At his current rate it'll be interesting to see which milestone Luca Sbisa hits first, 100 points or 500 Games Played.

I'm still waiting to see a signing that really makes me think: "we got a great deal." Tanev is probably his best signing, and even his contract is fairly "market value" looking at the above link. The rest range from underwhelming to dumpster fire.
