I guess I'm willing to take a risk on players like Cozens and Byam potentially benefiting from a change in scenery ie. getting out of Buffalo which seems to be an almost uniquely bad environment.

I get that Cozen's regression a familiar problem, if we could improve on the return without retaining millions of dollars I would be all for that of course.
Never underestimate the likelihood that teams with uniquely bad environments are first to dangle those who they think are significant causes of that environment.

Byram's issue is (1) durability and (2) he's blocked. He's really performed pretty well in Buffalo. Durability and being blocked would exist in Vancouver.

You have to really hope the concussion issues are behind him, Buffalo took that risk in acquiring Byram and so far so good on that front it seems. Touch wood. If you look at him as anchoring your second pairing he fits, either with Soucy with one of them on the wrong side, or bumping Soucy down to the third pairing. And again, with 11.6 taking his talents to upstate New York the cap room is there to sign both he and Brock Boeser, the luxury of being able to sign other players in other positions presents itself here.

Would Bow3 be as blocked here as he would be in the land of palm tree(less) and taxes? He would be just behind the Captain instead of two first overalls.

Personally, I'd target Power as the centrepiece and not budge. Adams has little leash left and desperate to make even some minor visible changes to appease the fanbase. Raisin isn't quite as desperate yet... unless we drop out of the last wildcard.

I'm fairly certain this group is targeting a veteran guy (or two) for this window more than anything else in these rumoured trade talks.

Byram's most usual partner is Dahlin; second is Power. I think Dahlin is usually the off side. Byram's getting 23 minutes a night. He's not blocked more now than he would be in Vancouver.

I see... didn't even realize Dahlin was playing his offside. Maybe I should watch some Sabres games? Nah.

Yeah, 23 minutes per is a lot, but he could still be over 20 minutes here easily playing the left side behind Hughes. I'd take less minutes for more winning.

He's from here.

Played a bunch here.

Count that straw in your meanderings.

I can’t say that I’ve been impressed by Power in the games that I’ve seen him in, especially being that he is a former 1st overall pick. But what do I know. If he’s a centre piece of what could come back in a hypothetical trade I’m asking for hefty throw in on top of him. Pettersson is a much better asset than Power, player to player.

I get the sense, Byram is damaged goods. He’s never really lived up to expectations. A good looking player when healthy, but has never found that next level on a consistent basis, gives you flashes, but he’s been a let down, for sure

Power strikes me ( the rare time I've seen him so take that with a grain of salt) to not have a ton of offensive intellect nor is he particularly physical with respect to his size.

He's still a baby though having just turned 22.

He and Dahlin are long term signed bookends of what should/could be a dominating D core, can't see them moving him happily.

I think Benson is gonna be a beauty in that Brayden Point type of player, would love to get him but I can’t see the Sabres wanting to trade him or Kulich.

He ain’t knocking my socks off. Maybe he has an Aaron Ekblad level career? Which isn’t a bad thing, but not seeing a superstar D-man in Power

Is Power a LD or RD?

He shoots left. So he’d slide in on the 2nd pair behind Hughes

Yeah at 8.35 he's not being paid Superstar D level at this point...especially when the cap jumps over the next few years (which is why you want + + in a theorized EP deal of course).....

He Quinn and Hronek would be a formidable top 3....get lucky with Willander and our top 4 would be solid for years to come.
