Keep Hughes and Hronek together. Then in the future put a vet with a rookie on the bottom two pairings. MPetey with Willander, and DPetey with Myers.

Yup, you're right, he was a big part of the dream season last year, so can forgive them this one. Still another UFA out tho, and one with an NTC..revolving door can't be good for attracting future ones.

Forbort, Mancini, McWard as depth. This is my plan too...providing Willander is still around.

Let me underline this point -- there are no greater impediments to signing an NCAA player than a guy in juniors. In fact, you have longer to sign college kids.
2 counter points. NCAA kids can play their way thru school and come out as UFAs after developing for 5 years, and have a degree.

Juniors are done at 20. If those kids don't sign by then, they usually don't sign and end up in Europe. To keep developing, they need the entry level contract to have a legit shot at getting into the AHL.

Assuming they start the same at 18, do you want the kid with 5 years of NCAA, or the kid who played a year overage in the Dub, and plays summers in Da Beauty league until he is a UFA at 23 or a few years in Canadian University leagues.

So go to Europe. Any prospect who is a high enough level to care about when they play in the nhl would be tracked if they went junior to Europe.

Every chl drafted player can wait 2 years. Drafted a second time? Two more years. Same time as the ncaa kid, who must graduate to become a free agent.

College players who are worth it very rarely don’t sign, very rarely finish 4 years of college.

Jane you ignorant slut.

There is a perception that the abbreviated schedule and less travel of the NCAA is a lesser development path than the rigors of riding the bus in a longer season of CHL.

Good tough Canadian kids and all that.
