The BC Government is set sign Treaties with two Bands on Vancouver Island. Neighbouring Bands with overlapping land claims say they will resort to civil unrest if the Treaties are signed and their claimed rights are not protected.
Colonization was not a European import.

Sounds like par for the course for the BC government. They just can't help but to trip over themselves with regards to First Nations affairs.

Contrary to the Cowichan decision by the BC Courts, a New Brunswick Court ruled Aboriginal Land Title does not supersede Fee Simple Title.
Aboriginals in New Brunswick appealed the decision to the Supreme Court of Canada. The Supreme Court has decided not to hear the case leaving the New Brunswick decision standing.
Implications in BC are yet to be known.

The multiple Surrey ridings are a critical block in Provincial elections. Does the shitshow Provincial NDP mandated Surrey Police Force put another nail in the Eby coffin? Rising crime, shootings, gang activity. Reportedly one gang sent a warning letter to the Surrey Police that they had 1000 armed members ready to fight. The Surrey Police Commissioner was just forced to resign. The transitional RCMP assistance is set to end in November.

Yesterday I was listening to CBC and they interviewed Minister Mike Farnworth and they discussed the replacement project. Damn politicians can be asked a simple question and they can spend 5 mins talking but not provide an answer. He was asked what is the current estimate for the replacement and instead of just answering he went on and on about the process and how it will create jobs for BC residents.
The original budget was $4.1B but a city councilor from Delta said the cost could reach $11.0B. Now instead of providing an updated estimate Farnsworth, which the government must have he went on that they wont know this until they receive the responses from a public process they are going to do. Now the public process starts to finalize the price as they go through various design stages but you have to have a budget in mind before doing any of this work.
When asked about the current agreement being cancelled he would also not provide a proper answer. Seems the contractor was giving them a new cost and the government didn't like it. Now they can kick the can down the road and delay the start for another year or 2 or 3. But don't worry they have and I quote “There’s 200 workers on the project right now. We’re expecting the review of the environmental certificate to be completed by the end of this year and then the major project works start early next year.”
What does have to do with the cost?

Jeeze. If only we spent $3 billion a year on the CBC instead of the paultry $1.5 billion . Then, with that amount of cash, they would be able to afford better answers from politicians.

Current plan is to divide the work between several small contracts allowing local firm (with NDP friendly management no doubt) to bid on smaller portions of the project.
Tell me how organizing several smaller contractors working independently of various parts of the project will come together?
