I am sorry did you just call Komorov one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL?
I am sorry but Komarov is one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL...
BigTuna wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 12:32 pm
His advanced stats were BRUTAL last year. Babcock played him far too much.
Babcock kept playing him in offensive situations far too much
So we agree Babcock sucks, good.
But Leo was fantastic on the PK, why?
Because he's one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL.
BigTuna wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 12:32 pm
Johnsson IS much better right now.
Johnsson will be 24 in November and has played just 9 NHL games (on the fourth line!)
... get to hospital, you're ODing on the koolaid!
BigTuna wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 12:32 pm
And BTW, you are wrong, Komorov was healthy for game 6 and 7. Johnsson could not come out. He was better. He also won the MVP in the Calder cup final for the Marlies.
"Babcock said Sunday the injured winger was at 85 per cent and had not been cleared for Game 6."
Also on game day Game 7 Babcock said Komarov was not healthy enough to play.
(I posted a link to this in a conversation at HF, I'll find it later if I have time)

Guaranteed if Lou gave Leo that horrific 4 year/12 million salary with the leaves you'd be laughing.
Wrong, search the archives, I've never said anything against him.
Truth is he's always been one of those Leaves I kept wishing would just go away.
BigTuna wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 12:32 pm
Go on any Leaf game thread anywhere, fans were screaming at Babcock for playing him so much. I was at the March 29th game between Winnipeg and Toronto. Leaf fans were screaming at how Leo was inexplicably on the 1st PP unit and Matthews was not.
Exactly, as I said Babcock was inexplicably playing Leo in offensive situations.
No doubt, because of Babcock, soon you and yours will go back to throwing jerseys on the ice...
BigTuna wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 12:32 pm
Andreas Johnsson is so much better to have than Leo it's not even worth a debate. Komorov is finished. I really don't care how many goals Leo scored years ago he's a shell of his former self.
You're mainlining that koolaid aren't you!
Perhaps Komarov will continue his slide offensively, perhaps he won't
... but he's still one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL.
Meanwhile we don't know yet if Johnsson will ever be a regular NHL player.
BigTuna wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 12:32 pm
You failed to mention when talking defense is Bozak and JVR were by far the worst defensive forwards on the leaves.
Well the guys who replace them will likely be worse defensively.
And I did mention JVR... in response to your drooling over Tavares.
36 goals out, 37 goals in, big whoop.
Kadri will have lesser wingers this year so his numbers will no doubt go down.
He might also lose some power play time due to Tavares.
Bozak was Leaves best faceoff man...
You will not find one single Canucks fan on here agreeing with you saying Komorov was one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL. You are embarrasing yourself. He wasn't even good defensively last year.
Where was that acclaim about Leo when he was a Leaf/ I never heard you say that.
And no, there are no Leaf forward worse defensevly than Bozak and JVR. You go on and on about team D, and then in the same breathe talk about how much they'll miss their 2 worst defensive forwards and then call a 4th liner way past his prime one of the top defensive forwards in the NHL.
Just stop.
And BTW, 37 goals in, 36 goals out, did you not count assists? Tavres had 84 points last season with a terrible team. JVR is a 3rd line 5 on 5 player who is a one-dimensional PP specialist. Don't even try to pretend JVR is close to the player Tavares is. Tavres is way better offensively AND DEFENSIVELY.
And how many times do I have to explain to you Johnsson's age is irrelevant? He is a 7th rounder. Was he supposed to make the NHl at age 19? Check the ages of the 6th/7th rounders,m always 23 and up.
If you had a choice you are picking Johnsson over Komorov for the Canucks. Stop it.

It’s not “team d” it’s the actual “D” the defencemen
Reefer2 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 7:48 pm
Tavares scores twice tonight, plan the parade.
LOL he looked dominant.
I don't think any of you are ready for how good this team will be.
The leaves PP is going to be cruel to the opposition.
Only you (OK maybe another 100,000 Laugh fans) are this excited about him scoring 2 goals against the crappy Senators in a preseason game.
Seriously dude you have a major problem with reality.
And what is the reality here? That they're worse with Tavres and will miss the shutdown powers of Leo Komorov?
You guys are delusional.

The D that allowed the lowest GA in the East after Jan 1st?
Morgan Rielly is just getting started. Top 20 D easily in the NHL. He plays top 5 toughest QOC minutes and can get you 50-60 points easy.

Talk to you in April
Yes because they lost in game 7 against Boston and only added John Tavares. Boston is toast if that happens right now.
leaves=Elite cup contender. Accept it.
You have noi idea how good this team is. Tavres/Marner/Nylander (when signed)/Matthews/Marleau/Kadri. That's killer. They'll be #1 in the East this year.

I think a lot of people thought the same thing about St Louis not long ago, even San Jose back in the day.
Even Ottawa has made it farther than Toronto in the playoffs in the last decade. They did it without a salary cap-devouring crop of centers. The difference? They had a blueline and a goalie capable of rising to the occasion when it matters. Toronto has neither. Again, come back when Dumbass gets either.

The irony of this post is the Sens never even reached the finals with their #1 D playing insane hockey. The last 3 cup winners all had avg to below avg D. One had Ron Hainsey as their top-pairing D. And they were spending a ton of cap on centres. LOL
Do you see a trend? The last 3 cup winners had the best starpower and depth at centre. That's the leaves this year. a 30 goal/60 point centre is their 3rd line C.
And Matthews and Marner havent even scratched the surface of what they can do.

Maybe Willie will never sign...
Oh well, we'll get a ton for a 22nd year-old top 10 pick who has 61 points each of his past 2 seasons.

Unless he tells u to pound sand and goes across the pond.
An unsigned RFA, who is NOT a franchise player, but who is holding out on his first negotiation after his ELC has a significantly reduced trade value.
Nylander is worth a top 15 first rounder + top 9 forward + decent prospect. This holdout probably loses Toronto the player or prospect.
Don’t forget, Nylander has put up a ton of points playing with Matthews, who IS a budding franchise center. Is he a 60+ point winger skating with a Drouin, Duchene, or Couture? Good chance yes, but not as sure a thing.
