Those are better term and $'s than Luca for a player two years older with comparable stats.
Not according to the Advanced Stats. Petry is superior. He also plays more, and puts up more points. He doubled Sbisa's point totals this season.
I'm not a huge fan of Petry's deal, especially with that NTC, but he's a top-4 guy. Sbisa, on the other hand, is comparable to Ryan Stanton when it comes to advanced stats and has a worse Points/Game than Stanton over his career.

The stats where shots replace goals doesn't make the Petry deal any sweeter.

They are both terrible contracts . Sbisa is a Chinese fire drill every second shift

Wow...nice for Petry.
I guess we can forget about getting Cody Franson...if I was his agent, I'd be asking for the same money.

That's pretty ball park for Fanson. Seriously, if Benning is interested he needs to move Bieksa or Hamhuis, we always knew that though.

IF Canucks are truly after Franson, I can't see them offering more than $5M per (Edler limit).
(although this is Odd Jim we're talking about)
So 6 X $5M = $30M (front-loaded?)
Obviously, Franson has been rumoured to have Vancouver high on his preferred-destination list.
Would he give a 10% discount towards that end?
(note: not all teams are in a position to front-load)
IF Canucks are truly after RS Franson, RS Bieksa would have to go.
These are my thoughts, if you don't like them I have others...

Nothing against Crawford but he's only an average type of 'tender and Bishop/Andersen have been letting in some cheese the last few games.
Teams doing well without a star goalie has been happening for a while. Apart from LA and Johnny B Quick, has an elite goalie talent won the Cup in the last few years? I can't think of one.
You say aside from Quick, but he has won the cup 2 of the last 3 years. Without him do the Kings get it done?
Not many goalies right now that you would consider "franchise" type players anyways...Price obviously, and after that the likes of Lundqvist, Quick.......maybe Rinne, Rask. But it ends about there.
That said, the list of goalies taking their teams to the SCF over the past few years is still pretty star studded...
2014 - Quick vs Lundqvist
2013 - Crawford vs Rask
2012 - Quick vs Brodeur
2011 - Thomas vs Luongo

Is that Sbisa, or BXA? Juice has been terrible the last 2 seasons, and Sbisa is not the right partner for him. Bisa just replaced Ballard on the "killer B" defense.

At least Bieksa has provided something in the past, still provides leadership and some grit, is a great interview and only has a year left.
Sbisa provides nothing but sunburn to the back of our goalies necks. SPF 3.6 Million.

The past is just that.
The chance of Sbisa improving > the chance of Bieksa improving.

On one hand Bieksa could have a bounceback season.
(knows he was bad so trains hard)
(also, broken hand last season)
On the other hand Sbisa couldn't get any worse.

I don't like the chances of EITHER improving that much, for different reasons. Bieksa is getting old and has hard miles on him, but he's often been our most consistent warrior. So I'm inclined to give him some slack. Sbisa has never been, and likely will never be, any good.
I like Bieksa, and I like what he brings. Is he overpaid? Absolutely. But I'd take him at $4.6M for one year over 3 years of Sbisa at $3.6M.

I think Juice can get us a couple picks.
So Bieksa
or Franson + 2nd & 3rd round picks?

LOL Petry 6 year - $33 million at $5.5 million per vs Sbisas contract of 3 years at $10.8 million AND no NTC!
Benning is such a bad man, must make Bergevin the new Mike "looking out for the players financial security" Gillis
Wonder what the Big Softie, shitty defensivrlely, with one NHL fight in his career the Dana Murzyn wheels of Cody Franson will sign for??? I'm sure what ridiculous amount he does sign for will be acceptable by the CC lovers of BC bred hockey players
