Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Marc Staal re-signs with the Rangers, 6 years @ $5.7M per season. Something we can look forward to if we want to eat up some of Tanev's UFA years?

If we are paying Tanev anywhere near that KB3 is gone.

I think we can get Tanev on the Bieksa/Hamhuis type contract . 6 years at 4.6 million per season sounds about right.

Maybe I still see him as the young punk or under value him.Blob Mckenzie wrote:I think we can get Tanev on the Bieksa/Hamhuis type contract . 6 years at 4.6 million per season sounds about right.
Obviously not seeing Stall frequently makes it a hard comparison.
If his AAV is over $4 I'll be concerned.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I think Blob is probably closer to correct. The money these top-4 d-men make these days is pretty silly. The Canucks could probably play harball with Tanev for 2 more seasons, then he'll either walk, or we'll have to pay the big pucks.cfp wrote:Maybe I still see him as the young punk or under value him.Blob Mckenzie wrote:I think we can get Tanev on the Bieksa/Hamhuis type contract . 6 years at 4.6 million per season sounds about right.

Doing the Hamhuis/Bieksa deal now can probably lower the cap hit, and give Tanev a little spending money if they add some signing bonus or front-load the deal somewhat.
5.5M, 5.5, 5, 4.5, 4.05, 3.65 = $28.2M = $4.7M cap hit. Tanev hits UFA at 31, with one more chance to cash in on a long-term deal.

Salary caps are not based on position, they are based on teams.cfp wrote:Island Nucklehead wrote: Something we can look forward to if we want to eat up some of Tanev's UFA years?

Dumping Sbsisa and trading Higgins frees up over 4 mil in cap space.
In comes Corrado full time and free up a forward spot for one of Gaunce or Jensen full time...
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I agree. Tanev hasn't proven to be a consistent $5.7 mil player yet. And please, say "NO" to the NTCBlob Mckenzie wrote:I think we can get Tanev on the Bieksa/Hamhuis type contract . 6 years at 4.6 million per season sounds about right.

6 Games for Carcillo.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Look at the plus/minus of EVERY blueline partner that Tanev has had. It always goes up.Tciso wrote:I agree. Tanev hasn't proven to be a consistent $5.7 mil player yet. Look at how steady he is. Take him away and Edler might be back on his way to another green jacket.
If the Cap goes up, so does the market value of players. Even an increase to $73M will probably mean that Tanev could get $5M in the open market. If Benning can lock him up for 5 or so years at $25M, without a NTC, then he absolutely should do that.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
$5M for Tanev on a long term deal would be a steal.
With the way our defense is aging, and how little there is in the pipeline, Benning pretty much has to open the wallet for Tanev.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yes. I'm thinking it will be in the $5 - $5.5 range. Tanev hasn't shown any willingness to get into a deal until he can get one he likes. Been happy with 1 yr deals as he develops into something that will cost the team $'sherb wrote:$5M for Tanev on a long term deal would be a steal.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Taney will get paid, but it won't be massive dollars meaning $6 million plus. Defensive dmen just don't make that kind of money.herb wrote:$5M for Tanev on a long term deal would be a steal.

As for the pipeline - it's better than most think. People like to look at HF rankings, THN rankings, etc and get all worked up, even when the current Nucks D is made up of players who were little thought of - Tanev, Bieksa, Edler, Stanton, Weber were all afterthoughts. Only Sbisa and Hamhuis were highly regarded, and Sbisa is terrible. The Nucks will get a player or two out of Corrado, Hutton, Subban, Tryamkin, Pedan, Blain, Forsling, McNally et al. I also expect a dman picked in the first two rounds this year.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Mike Richards on waivers??

LA couldn't find a taker for that crazy contract I guess.@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Expectation is that if Richards clears waivers tomorrow he'll be re-assigned to AHL Manchester. Unless of course Kings can work out a trade

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Maybe they found a trade but they want to see if they can unload Richards without taking a boat anchor in return.
