I"m likely late to the scene on this one, and finally decided to check out "Angine de Poitrine".
Not my usual genre, but interesting enough to keep me listening. Weird costumes aside, these guys can play.
What is the genre?
I kind of think that's the question that makes it very interesting. I'm not sure that I *like* what I'm hearing, but I am entertained by it because it is such a different thing. Microtonal guitars have been around for a bit, but few have found a way to make them as musical as they do. I wonder, though, whether its one of those music for musician things -- the more familiarity you have for how things are generally produced, the more your ears prick up at the trick.
As an aside, with or without a wacky fretboard, microtonality is part of the guitar. When you bend a string imperfectly to the target note, which can be intentionally for effect (or a skill-deficit issue), you get a microtone. Our ears are used to hearing that, but not those notes with simply fretting which makes it sound almost detuned autotune.

Genre? I'm sure there's a lot of names tagged to it. But for the creative, experimental, technical playing, I usually get a little bored of it (eg Buckethead) - but this duo brings that little bit of eccentricity and, dare I say, "fun" to the mix, which (to my ears) makes it enjoyable.
I don't see them as music for musicians, but I have read a few posts where the music and technique have been dissected to death.

Pearl Jam's Ten was 35 years old yesterday!
Can still listen to the album front to back.
One of my fave tracks:
For us 90s kids 1991 was a big year, within 44 days all of Metallica's Metallica (Black Album), GnR's Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, RHCP's Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Nirvana's Nevermind and Pearl Jam's Ten were all released. Solid year for rock music!
