Austin dirty Sanchez Matthews is a complete no show. What happened?
He makes EP40 look good
He makes EP40 look good
Yes and no. He was a warrior and a solid defenseman, not a stay home guy as many thought, his offensive acumen was often underappreciated because he didn't usually end up being one of the two touches on the puck before a goal, however he often made good passes and reads. The decision to move on was understandable at the time. He had been oft-injured, and the team was trying to transition towards a new group. The beyond dumb component was not making the decision 3 months earlier and trading him for a draft pick.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 2:28 pm I hated to see the team part with Tanev. What a completely asinine move. Beyond dumb.
Forsling was a 5th round pick who took 8 years to crack a NHL lineup with his 3rd team. The Canucks traded him after he failed to impress in the SHL, and the knock was his mobility and average or below physical game. The return of Clendenning was a head scratcher.Forsling bungle was a moronic move.
No. You're wrong. That trade essentially was OEL + Garland for a 1st round pick, they then paid a 2nd round pick for the Coyotes to take Beagle, Roussel, The Air Thief, and retain 12% of OEL's salary. Anyone would say that grabbing a top-6 winger and a top-4 defenseman for a 1st round pick was a good trade. OEL went off a cliff.....nobody saw that coming.Trading for OEL was a blunderfuck. Like ..... why? A terrible misuse of assets. It's like Mëds loading up his private plane with propane. Not cunning. Current management compounded the problem hiring a coach he hates and coach hates him. Pre-tarded.
I'm not sure he moves the needle either way. His stats are pretty clear that he's a placeholder everywhere he plays. Affordable bottom-pairing guy who is quite replaceable. He was cleared to play on April 26. Edmonton, a team with a weak blueline that is missing a key piece, has used him in 1 game this post season. Speaks volumes.Stecher- see above. He fuels a lot of rage on this board but it's good to see a local kid punch above his weight.
Why was Toffoli so egregious? He played 10 games here. He was solid in those games, and the subsequent handful in the playoffs, but it's a pretty small sample size to be getting hung up on not re-signing him. You look at his numbers prior to coming to Vancouver and you can see that he was a streaky 50 point winger. It may have been a smart move to bring him back, but it could just as easily have been a lukewarm move as well.Horsey, ........Tanev, Forsling, Podkolzin and Toffoli were terrible errors.

He reminds me of Jim Ross, the commentator of WWE matches.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 11:20 pm Jack Michaels sounds like Gilbert Godfrey trying to be Scott Ferral. What an idiot.
