The 2017 class was supposed to be a shitty class but a lot of gems came out of that one. The 2016 class was supposed to a great class but a lot of busts and clunkers came out of that one. There will always be Wyatt Johnston’s to find in the 20’s, Jason Robertson’s in the 2nd round, Seth Jarvis’ in the teens and busts like Lafrenierre going 1st overall. It is what it is. We drafted Kesler and Ohlund in the latter parts of the 1st round we can do it again.
Well said RD, all this angst on 17/18 year olds when you have no idea on how they will develop. Usually anyone out of top 5 are hit and miss not matter what draft class they are in, true some years are better than others.

Brock is the better scorer though and those guys are generally hard to find. Brock is a potential 40G guy and Garly kinda tops out @ 20G. All I know is when we had Millzy, Brock was always out there on the 1st unit PP. Garly was mostly 2nd unit PP and only played PP1 if one of the top guys were out. I think we also have some smaller play driving forwards in the system like Hoggy, Lekkerimaki and Bains (albeit not as good as Garly right now). In time, hopefully it maybe a different story.

Boeser is a one-time 40G scorer. He did nor repeat that this season, and he won't ever be a 40G winger again unless he ends up on a line with someone who allows him to capitalize. I've always been a fan of Brock, but I temper my opinion of him with a healthy dose of reality. I think the team that gives him $8.5M is going to be looking to move that contract 3 years from now.

Garland drives his line, he provides the energy, and often the puck possession.

While Garland has never had top line potential, which Brock did have, he is probably a 25G/60Pt winger with consistent linemates not named Blueger and Joshua.

I think $6M x 6 is acceptable for him in a world where the cap is probably going to be $100M a couple of years from now.

Ya 6x6 for Garland is better than I thought. That means we will have him for 7 more years, depending upon what type of trade protection eh has. It also shows his commitment to being here. While the same could be said of Boeser and his commitment to being here the same cannot be said for him playing through whatever mental issues he has had, with all due respect to Boeser. I like Boeser and will be sad to see him go but I have said all along I don't want to be the team paying him 8 plus on a 6 plus term. My understanding is that they offered close to 8, if not 8, but for 5 years. I hope he gets what he is looking for. I really do, just not here.

Did you have an issue with a sea of Sutters, a grubby Air Thief, a ditch of Beagles,a mud puddle of "Guds's" ?

I would have been happier with 5 years. Sign Demmer up and lock down the Capo next summer. They're keeping his peeps.

What do we about the 2 C position?

Horvat for Hronek......... wouldja? 🤓

So Barzal over B02Max?

Will the raisin and Smithers send Willander and the '26 1st for MB?

How enraged would we all be?

(I personally won't give a flying fuck...I need a cup b4 I drop dead)

Are we taking a gamble giving Petey one more chance? I ask this because, if we see no change, the other teams see no change, we are stuck with the asshat and his $11.6. They are rolling the dice here if they are keeping him.

Of course they are sticking with Petey. If they didn’t, it would be a full rebuild and Hughes is probably gone.
Rutherford ain’t here for no stinking rebuild.
I’m more concerned they’l keep Lankinen past July first and lose Silovs (when Demko signs).

You can do a hockey trade with Petey like Petey for Barzal along those lines. Who says it has to be a trade for futures? All I’m thinking about is that contract, if he continues busting in the coming season, we are pretty much stuck with it. Or, dare I say, buy it out, a la OEL.

Never say never, but every indication I've seen tells me management is going to stick with Petey. Apparently they've kept tabs on his offseason progress and aren't disappointed so far. We'll see how things sit by tomorrow night.
