Their fourth line last night consisted of Tanner Pearson, Keegan Kolesar and Cole Schwindt. The mediocrity of some of their depth struck me while watching last night. It was their top guns that carried the play for them. We ran out of steam in the third.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 11:24 am Yes, I understand the top guys aren't getting it done in the last 3-4 games or so. What I asked was the quality of depth of our team vs the real contenders.
Our forward depth may be decent, but even when the team is fully healthy, does it stack up against the top echelon teams? Does guys like Heinen, Blueger, Suter, Hoglander, etc. propel us into the same deep territory if/when our top guys perform to their abilities?
I know for sure our D is FAR from what true contenders needs, even when fully healthy. Depth is so shallow when you have to bust out AHLers every night and push guys up into the top 4. Honestly, if the Captain wasn't playing out of his mind or god forbid, had to be out for any period of time... this could be a Buffalo-like lottery team.
Did we regress or was last year an anomaly of over-achievement?
