I think they keep Lekkermaki on the opening day roster to protect the bonus overage but send him down as soon as the season starts.
We have some talent for sure coming through the system but still a few years away for most. No need to rush D’Petey and Raty could benefit from playing a top role in Abbotsford. Injuries will dictate a lot.
Will be good when we get down to a workable roster and see how the lines gel. Boeaser played his off wing for the first time in his career. He looked like a leader out there.

Nice to read some solid comments on individual performances.
A few comments;
Vancouver's scrubs were bailed out, sometime spectacularly, by Silovs.
Two pp goals and an empty netter is not something to get excited by. Five on five was a scrambled chaotic mess. It was easy to see who are the NHL regs and who are the AHL scrubs. I can only see PostalSushi making a push for a lineup spot.
Raty looked good considering the only NHL centre in the line up was Suter. Not impressed with Frobert, Freeland is the same as always. A good thing Hronek and Meyers, who was an impressive beast of a leader, were anchoring the D.
EP2 was far worse than I expected him to be. I thought I'd see him turnstiled by the speed of NHL players, but instead he was out worked and intimidated into making rushed soft weak Lil Trojanesque passes. Ugly. I have never been a fan of him and have had trouble seeing how he could cope in the NHL.
D zone play was a mess all around. Looked Green, collapse to the net to block cross ice plays without the Ricky Hockey laying out the opponents near the crease. Physical play was severely lacking.
CoHog comes in jacked and went full angry elf out there. Pumped up to be dumped? Elite turdliner?
Heinen looked steady in the sea of Granlund NHL wingers on the roster. May have been a bit over his head, expected to carry a couple of scrubs but held his own.
The 200 foot game and calm assured PP QB role that PostalSushi played was impressive. He appeared to be everywhere but was never out of position.
Brock with the hustle back check reach around, take the stick from behind, showed what kind of surfer dude he has become.
Blais did well for someone looking for a contract somewhere. Nice of the coaches to showcase him a bit and he may earn a 4th line 13th forward role somewhere.

Nice to have hockey back - been missing the quality chat.
But I do have to ask, WTF is a PostalSushi?

LetterMaki
I, and several others had been calling him LetterKenny, however I believe it was UW who first noted the Maki/Sushi connection.

Blais has signed his AHL contract so doesn’t that mean he makes the Canucks and signs his NHL contract with us or he plays in Abbotsford? No option to sign with another NHL team??

Couldn't he still sign an NHL contract with another team HW? I don't think the AHL deal binds him to Abby if he gets an NHL offer?Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:34 pm Blais has signed his AHL contract so doesn’t that mean he makes the Canucks and signs his NHL contract with us or he plays in Abbotsford? I’m not sure which is why I asked. I guess it depends if the AHL contract has an out clause or not.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:36 pmCouldn't he still sign an NHL contract with another team HW? I thought he was only on a PTO. Missed that he also signed to Abby with only at camp on a PTO tryout with Vancouver.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:34 pm Blais has signed his AHL contract so doesn’t that mean he makes the Canucks and signs his NHL contract with us or he plays in Abbotsford? Every player with an AHL contract is free to sign an NHL contract with any team if offered.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:55 pmI’m not sure which is why I asked. He's tied to the AHL team, no NHL team holds his playing rights.
Where Doc is wrong is players in the AHL with their playing rights held by an NHL team are not free to sign anywhere they wish.

Doc wrong?

Yeahno, I said: "Every player with an AHL contract is free to sign an NHL contract with any team if offered."
You're talking about players playing in the AHL on an NHL contract.
Yuge diff.
A coupla folks here were wondering about Blais and his AHL contract.
(he also signed a PTO with the big club, which also leaves him free to sign an NHL contract with any team)
