I am a big OEL fan and i am quite certain he would be a great addition but the reality is anyone other than Hughes or Pettersson earning over 6 is a bad idea

Barrie ain't signing 5x5. He's off a down year, where he was *only on a 45 point pace, the lowest PPG since his rookie year. He may sign 1-2 years, to get a mulligan on his contract year away from the Shithole Toronto, but no way is he signing for 5 at that big of discount.

Tanev, I'd be fine with, since he's a good soldier and will LTIR rather than retire

OEL’s contract is heading to Brent Seabrook bad territory.

There’s chatter Brandon Sutter ($4.375M cap hit) might be part of a package to AZ. He owns a 15-team no-trade list, and FWIW I’m told AZ is not on that list.

Sounds like it's going to be Boston, if it happens at all.

Sounds like the asking price for OEL may be a little steep for the Canucks at this point. Doesn’t mean they are out, but there is a gap, for sure. Gotta think all parties involved including if BOS is still interested would want this done pretty quick.

Brian Burke on record saying he doesn't think that OEL puts Vancouver over the top if it also costs them Tanev. I tend to agree with him.

They also talked about Vancouver being in the mix for this because of not being able to sign Boeser.....I'm assuming they meant Toffoli.

After a shit nights sleep, I’ve decided this OEL business is a bad idea. Jim should accept he can’t get rid of contracts without stupid happening; just sign Toffoli, Jake and Stecher; accept Marky and Tanev making their money elsewhere; wish them well; then sign a cheap backup goalie once the free agent frenzy passes.

Let Boston have OEL and his contract.

Yup, signing Tanev for much cheaper is the wiser move than taking on tve massive contract of a 29 year old declining asset. If I was Arizona I would just accept whatever to get out from under that future massive headache

Is Barrie coming home? Does Tanev out/Barrie in make Van better, worse or the same? How about Dhillon + Barrie minus Tanev? Having just watched our prized young rookie flourish, will him losing his partner negatively affect his game?
