Why would I respond to someone who believes the leaves are an old team? That person doesn't know what they are talking about. 2/3rds of the NHL are still older BTW.
Mattews is 19, Marner is 20, Nylander just turned 21. Connor Brown is 23, Hyman 24, Rielly 23, Gardiner 26, Kadri 26, Andersen 28. What the hell are you smoking? Adding older vets in Marleau, Moore and Hainey (And these are supporting pieces who won't be around very long hardly makes them old.
As I pointed out a few days ago in this thread, Leaves are the 20th oldest team in the NHL.
And getting older every year, no more "rookies" or "prospects" for you to brag about...
So in your opinion, the leaves are over-the-hill and need to now rebuild?
LOL. What a joke. Their core players and most important players are very young. Who needs "prospects" when you have Marner, Matthews and Nylander? And they just drafted a blue chipper at D last month.
I know you hate the leaves, but try to make arguments that make sense.

UMMM... who is not making sense?
Yes or no, should the leaves start rebuilding because they are clearly too old? That is the argument you are making.
In those stats BTW, Dominic Moore's age is as important as Auston Matthews. Only we both know it isn't he's gone in 1 year.
Their core players and most important players are all very young. The only player you could say you'd pick over Matthews to build a team with is McDavid. that's it. He's a franchise C you build around. The Canucks clearly lack that-The most important position in the entire NHL.

UMMMM yeahno I have not made that argument Mr T.
Ever wonder what they are cutting that koolaid with?
I've been saying they should have stayed with the rebuild they were doing.
Too late now.
Now they've become some kind of hideous grotesque hybrid.
Ever see the movie "The Fly"?
Kinda like that...
The age of the team is a big concern. I have not commented on it...
And please explain how they haven't continued rebuilding? They kept their first rounder and opcked a guy Bob Mckenzie had ranked #2 overall last fall in the rankings. They're not exactly trading young players or picks, are they?
And isn't it funny how you compliment teams like Buffalo who are rushing the rebuild way faster than the leaves are (Let's give away a draft pick for Jimmy Vesey!) But say the leaves should have stayed the course. LOL.
Why the hell should the leaves sit on their hands and do nothing until their young players get massive raises? That's youtr advice? LOL. Didn't you tell me Matthews will cost 15 million per and the clock was ticking? Now you're suggesting they do the opposite because it fits your current lame argument.
And one more thing, your ridiculous "Age" numbers are including Lupul and Horton. Sorry, I'm not including them. The age of the team is much younger without them. They will never play another game for the leaves.

They signed FOUR old guys to block roster spots, they drafted just once in the top 50, just twice in top 100.

And where did Bob Mckenzie have him ranked in the spring?

You keep saying that, but I suggested Matthews will get $14M-per.
I never gave any "advice"... I only suggested Matthews will get $14M-per.
If you read between the lines though...
recall me mocking you saying the rebuild was over
... it should be easy to determine that I felt the wise course would be to "stick to the Shanaplan".
(hell, I was mocking the drifting from said "plan" long before the FOUR old men were signed)
Your Leaves need players on ELC coming up when MNM get the big bucks
The only guy around when MMN's deals come in is Marleau, and he'll have only a year left. Moore got 1 freaking year for under a million.
And notice they are signing "Old Guys", not trading for them and giving up picks or prospects?
They had the most picks of any team the past 2 years, so I hardly care if they only had 2 in the first 100 this year. They got a gift in the first round.

By then they will surely have other oldtimers, it's the new plan...

Then why did they have just one pick in the top 50, just two in top 100?

Why have they had the most picks of any team the past 3 years combined? The most important thing is drafting a blue chipper, and somehow they got lucky and managed it at #17-The exact thing they were missing most in the organization-A blue chipper D-Man who is a RH shot.

Subtracting Horton and Lupul would only move them 2 spots up the list.
But then you'd have to do the same for other teams in similar situations.
Leaves are older than the average team no matter how you slice it.

Not a blue chipper and... not exactly a household name!
Quick Tuna, what's his name??
This guy was never a "blue chipper" and was passed over by many teams for good reason...
A prospect + 2nd round draft pick... for,,, 27 games of BRIAN BOYLE!!

How do u hate the leaves more than the Flames Help me understand cause that makes zero sense...
Haven't you heard, the Leaves have always been one the most hated teams in the wide world of sports!
We went to the finals in 82 we beat the Flames as a kid it was the first time i seen a series Playoff Victory lost to the Flames in 83 and 84 which Got Roger Neilson fired... Didn't make the Play'offs again til 86 where we got lit up by Gretzky & Co... Didn't make the playoffs til 89 finished 43 Points behind the Flames and played one of the best game 7s in playoff history only more heartbreaking loss was 94 Rangers ... The Parallels between 89 and 94 are EERY vs Calgary I have seen Cooke Score to save our season with jovo going crazy in the box and then Gelinas End us I've seen Ferlund run around Ive seen Torts lose his shit I've seen Bench Clearing Brawls in the early 80s,Pat Quinn wanting to Kill Harvey the Hound for Running over a Canuck Jersey at Center Ice with a toy Zamboni... I hate that team with every fiber of my being & those are some of the reasons...
As far as the leaves are concerned, when I was a kid there was ONE TEAM in this country that Moved the Needle... Danny Gallivan Dick Irvin Larry Robinson after a shift on the bench with a towel draped over his shoulder Lemaire Shutt Lafleur Dryden lapointe Mondu I remember his eye Injury Risebrough, Trembley, Houle, Savard, Gainey, The Forum, that song they used to play during stoppages ...
Oh the Memories...
Every year Habs vs Bruins they won every year they lost 8 games one season... I could name you more players off the top of my head off of the Habs roster from 77-81 ish than I could name leaves from the same time period... Cause as the 80s got going the leaves SUCKED... They were not relevant when the leaves came out west throughout the 80s it wasn't a hot ticket cause NOBODY gave two shits but when the Habs showed up the PNE was Half full of Habs fans...
They got good in the early 90s but we were Better and we beat them in 94 and then they fell off the earth til Quinn showed up and then he left and they struggled til now... Playing Toronto ONCE in the post season and beating them I just don't get the hatred compared to The Flames who have ended our season, battled with, fought with, chirped with, in the same division since 1980...
I will say this about them, they probably have a two year window before they have to start paying some guys but until then if they stay healthy Their are not 3 teams in that conference better than them... 7 game series they could beat Caps this yr a Sens,Rangers,Habs,Bruins Blue Jackets Not sure bout the Pens but everybody else thats not exactly a scary collection of hockey teams...
In my lifetime I never thought I would see a Cubs team win a world Series Red Sox win Multiple, A Cleveland team win Something, teams come back from 3-0 down teams.... The leaves seem to be the next domino to fall... Black Hawks Cubs Bruins Rangers Red Sox, Cavs, Bucaneers , Saints just hope u can Survive it Doc u seem to have a lot invested in their failure which I don't get but whatever floats your boat... Cause they have good players and Play in a hella weak conference...
