Another morning, another OEL watch. Hopefully this is the last one. I think, hope, we will know fairly quickly if it will happen or not.
Saw this, this morning, nothing new really:
OEL trade is still progressing tonight.
AZ wants Höglander, Podkolzin or Demko but may have to settle for Lind as the prospect because Hog/Pod/Demko are no-go’s for Canucks.
Names like Virtanen and Sutter have been floated in trade too.
or maybe not? Breaking news from Friedman:
"I heard last night it was really cold.... everything can change with one phone call." Elliotte Friedman on Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Vancouver's package just 'not good enough'?
The longer Van waits the better the deal

Don’t pay attention to Elliot. He’s just spit ballin’ as usual. He don’t exist without his spit balls. It’s his just job to spit ball. One of his many spit balls will stick, that’s key, the more spit balls the better. Think of the Dregers and Freidmanns of the world as the WWF wrestlers of journalism

people caught a few hours sleep, Elliot's phone stopped buzzing in his skinny jean front pocket

One last shot at a deal?
Dregger:
The Vancouver Canucks are hard at it this morning. It’s believed the Canucks have made another offer on Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Whether this results in a deal with Arizona TBD.
But don't worry guys, Motte is close to re-signing with us.

Bleh. In situations like these, the person who cares the least, wins. Jim please just do a "take it or leave it" final offer, then get on with life. You have lots of other business to attend to.

Good for Motte! A great 4th line guy for the playoffs!

Agreed. Walk away from this.
Bring back Tanev and Toffoli. Offer Gudas a couple years at $4M. Replace Markstrom with one of the many available veteran 1B options on the cheap.
Hughes - Tanev
Edler - Myers
Juolevi - Gudas
Benn
Move along Jimmy.

What's that Paul McCartney song? Let me roll it.
No way Demko is going anywhere now that Marky can pick and choose his best and most lucrative offer after 9am.
WhY, I'm sorry but I'm slow to catch on.
Demko proved what he can do in the recent playoffs. He's just 24 years old. He's dedicated to improving and his confidence level is rising.
Sure, goalies are out there that can fill in for a spell but why not keep the guy that's a franchise player.

Friedman is reporting that OEL is staying in AZ. No deal.
Okay Benning, you are on the clock now. Hopefully you didn't waste the whole week on this 'no trade.'

Yeah. Any OEL trade better be the yotes taking on about all of Erickson, Beagle, Sutter, and Baertschi. If this is about the yotes owner saving money, the calculations need to be done about the total cash on the contracts, not just the cap hits. We are offering long term cash savings, they are offering short term cap relief.

Elliotte says the ELO trade is off and that he's staying in Arizona.......

Darren Dreger@DarrenDreger
Benning, as we reported, went back at Arizona today, but the latest offer did not move the process along. Canucks are done trying as is Boston, hence OEL is now off the market...unless he decides to revisit options down the road.

Love it. He left it all on the ice during the playoffs and he's being rewarded.

2 year - 2.4 mil contract (AAV - 1.2 a season) Not bad.
