Every year teams unload "unloadable" contracts and every year folks say there's no way to unload such-n-such contract.

There is no such thing as an unloadable contract...

But we really don’t have the assets to attach to these guys to get someone to take them off our hands.

SKYO wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2020 12:20 am The rumours at the 2019 draft had the Canucks trying to get barrie, but Sakic wanted overpayment from a western team (JV+Stech+pick? iirc) JB said nah-traded for JT Miller instead, and Barrie thought it was a done deal to Vancity, was pissed it didn't happen according to biznasty.

Then when Barrie wasn't performing well under babcock, team almost traded for him in February, but Stecher wasn't enough.

Now as a UFA the Canucks and Barrie can finally link up this offseason.
Tanev
Myers
Barrie
That would be a nice trio to have on the Right side, might be too expen$ive for the cap though
Its an either/or scenario dangly.

Who would you prefer? Tanev or Barrie?
Is it?

IS IT??

Hell, we might be able to re-sign Marx, Toffoli, Tanev... and sign UFA Barrie
:wow:

Well if Loui self terminates or the league grants us a compliance buyout then yes...absolutely

So what are you prepared to give up to ditch Eriksson? Sutter? Sven? Beagle? Roussel?

There have been plenty of scribblings lately about Loui and the cnucks mutually terminating after the july 15 bonus is paid out. The canucks wont be gifting him a roster spot any longer and if he wont agree to walk then he will be logging gayhound miles in ghettica

I’d love Louie to disappear, but I’m not counting on it. Either way the other guys are still grossly overpaid and would need a significant add to dump their contracts. We finally have a bit of young depth. It seems a bit short sighted to gut it to get rid of some bad blunders

Sutter with a year left is easily moveable. Roussel and beagle we’re keeping. Baer also only a year left so not that difficult to move. Eriksson is gone the way of Bogosian and I’m guessing he can sign a 2 million a year contract with Dallas to finish out his playing career. Sutter with a million retention gets decent assets back. Baer May need a slight add but it won’t be “significant”.

Lol no Sutter does not get decent assets back with a million retained. He’s still overpaid at 3.35 million.

I’d love Louis to leave. I hope to hell he does. Sutter and Sven have a year left. Why give up a .2nd or a good prospect to make them disappear? Beagle and Roussel are shitty but they make 3 million per which isn’t crippling. I’d not be sending out much to get rid of these guys. And I sure as hell wouldn’t be signing Barrie long term to a Myers type deal. Spending 12 million on a couple of 4/5 D men is idiotic. Find a cheaper option and let Tanev go if he wants more than 5.

Near the trade deadline, the Sabres waived and sent Zach Bogosian to the AHL. However, instead of reporting, Bogosian opted for a contract termination with an eye on resuming his NHL career and wound up in Tampa Bay shortly thereafter. Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre posits that the Canucks may attempt to go down a similar path with winger Loui Eriksson.
An option? Maybe, if he wants to continue at all. Your kids need you Louis.

IMac speculated on the possibility of mutual termination after someone asked him if there was anything to the Loui retirement rumour.

In terms of REAL DOLLARS, Sutter would only be owed $2.5M for one season post-signing-bonus with $1M retained...
