You know it Doc, this kid grew up in the a place where all Canadians escape to during the Frozen Tundra Winters. You know damn well the kid wants to play back home in Arizona, he keeps talking about his love for the desert climate. That is why the Maple Smurfs are going to have buck up HUGE! We are talking Large money, unprecedented money! WITHOUT A DOUBT, him and McDavid will be the highest paid players in the game after just two more seasons.

What kind of money are they going to have to buck up for Marner? Patrick Kane money? Have you seen the headaches the Toews and Kane contracts give Stan Bowman every year when dealing with the Cap? We are talking Migraine Headaches!

Nylander is an RFA after next season, a year before both Marner and Matthews are RFA's at the same time. How are they going to handle that?

They might end up having $30 million tied up in 3 players!

Arizona is broke and on the verge of leaving for Seattle. I don't worry about them. No one should worry about that team. It exists to lose money. They cheat on the cap to stay alive and never actually pay salaries at the cap floor. They can't afford Matthews in real dollars (And I'm not talking cap).

But keep dreaming kids. BTW, if Kadri is terribly overpaid at 4.5 million, perhaps he should be at 2-2,5 million per, right? does that mean that all salaries are dropping then? Because I'm not sure if Matthews can demand 14 million per if a 35 goal scorer is worth 2 million per.

All the leaves have to do is sign Matthews/Marner early. Chicago didn't do that. They wait until they won 2 cups already. They signed Kadri and Reilly early and obviously saved millions (Florida gave Ekblad for some reason, 7.5 million per too soon).

Kadri actually had his fluke season last season when his shooting % was unsustainably low. This is back to the norm. Amazing contract.

First of all, Arizona is not leaving, 2nd of all, if they did, there are 3 teams in Arizona's neighbour - California, a state LOADED with Hombres. Trust me dude, Matthews LOVES Arizona and wants to play for that team, or close to it. Thirdly, Matthews and McDavid will be the highest paid players in the game...$14 million is not out of the question, the kid will get offer-sheets galore, trust me! Enjoy your Cap Flex now Tuna, it's about to get annihilated!

A year before the leaves have to buck up $14 million for Matthews, $14 million comes off the books for the Canucks as the Sedins contract is done at the end of next season. $10 million comes off the books at the end of this season in Miller and Burrows expiry on their contracts. Hmmmmm is that "Hello Johnny Tavares! Welcome to Vancouver, I know you'd love to go back home to Toronto but their Cap Flex is about to screwed over ROYALLY by Matthews, Marner and Nylander" :mex:

I think the best situation is to realize you should not draft elite talent, and pick inferior players with top 5 picks. You clearly do think that should occur.

It's clear it's a failed rebuild. Time to give Matthews up to the highest bidder(As long as it doesn't include top picks or great prospects who will one day be expensive).

I love how you're so concerned about the cap, but think nothing of giving Eriksson 6 million per. But Kadri isn't worth 4.5 million, but Eriksson, with terrible numbers, is worth 6 million, right?

In 2 seasons, $30 million of the leaves $73 (League Cap) will go to 3 players, Matthews ($14 million) to stop keep the offer sheets away, Marner $10 million Patrick Kane Money, Nylander $6 million Jordan Eberle money.    Hmm, how they will be spending that $43 million on 20 other players will be very, very interesting.

The Yotes are going to come in hard and heavy with a massive front ended offer sheet for Matthews. While the leaves at the same time have to buck HUGE for Marner after having to buck up HUGE for Nylander the year before.

Nathan Horton Contract

How are the leaves going to deal with UFA's Bozak, JVR and Komarov, in the summer of 2018, the same summer as RFA's Nylander and Shoshnikov. The summer before 2019, hence when Matthews and Marner get slammed with massive offer sheets. :mex:

Nice logic there. Image

Doesn't matter how early they sign Matthews, it's gonna be $14M-per (if he keeps this up).
BigTuna wrote: They signed Kadri and Reilly early and obviously saved millions.
Kadri was going-on 26 when he signed this contract, this is his 4th contract!

Rielly is a young top-4 dee, but not necessarily a bargain at $5M (and he's having a poor season).

The only underpaid player on the Leaves (other than ELCs) is JVR

... and that's done in 1.3 years.

A lot can happen in the next few years, hard to say where a team will be cap-wise.

But I've already proven Leaves are majorly screwed in the here+now with ELC bonuses + LTIRs.

Horton + Kessel ($6.5M combined) are on the books til the 2020s...

So lets recap.

- Toronto acquires Kessel from Boston, giving up Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton and Jared Knight.

- Kessel sucks in Toronto, the fans hate him

- Kessel, along with Tyler Biggs, Tim Erixon and a 2nd round pick is traded to Pittsburgh for Kasperi "King Smurf" Kapanen, Nick Spaling, Scott Harrington and a 2016 1st round pick and 2016 2nd round pick.

- 2016 Pittsburgh 1st round pick traded for Andersson

- Kessel wins a Stanley Cup with the Sharks

- Nick Spaling traded along Roman Polak to San Jose for two 2nd round picks (one in 2017 and one in 2018) Spaling and Polak go to the Stanley Cup Finals with the Sharks where they lose to Kessel and the Penguins

- Polak resigns a 1 year with the leaves

- Harrington and a conditional 5th traded to Columbus for that bum Kerby Rychel

The Kessel Fallout

No Kessel
No Seguin
No Hamilton
No Knight
No Biggs
No Erixon
No Spaling
No 2nd round pick (given up for Kessel)
No 2nd round pick (Pittsburgh reaquires 2nd pick from Toronto that went to Toronto with Kessel)

Yes Andersson (leaves acquire him by trading Pittsburghs 1st round pick)
Yes Kapanen
Yes 2017 2nd round pick from San Jose (Spaling and Polak)
Yes 2018 2nd round pick from San Jose (Spaling and Polak)
Yes to Kerby Rychel (leaves trade Harrington and a conditional 5th for him)

I tell you what, I think I'd rather have one of Kessel or both of Seguin and Hamilton than the current measly fallout that the Maple Smurfs are now left with :mex: My gawd is that awful. Is Andersson and that Smurf Kapanen all that they are left with? Are you kidding me? :mex:

The Cherry on Top! - Paying Kessel $1.2 million until the end of the 2019-2020 NHL Hockey Season.

Can you at least try to act like you follow the NHL? There is no way Matthews will start making 14 million in 2 years when the top cap hit is 10.5 million this year(And has been for 2 years with no rise).

Again, I know you're doing this as a Schtick. because you can't be this dim, but can you try to have some pride and show you know what is going on in the NHL in 2017?

The Yotes can't front load shit. They're broke. Their big arena deal just collapsed. OEL will leave in the next 18 months. They can't even afford to pay the cap floor in salaries so they cheat the system by taking on Datsyuk and Pronger's cap hits. (Cap hits, but no salary).
If they don't find a new arena in the area they're headed to Seattle.

The 2009 Kessel trade? Now we're back to that?
I got news for you, with Kessel on the leaves last season there's no Matthews on the leaves this year. And Kessel had 3 straight years of PPG play with Tyler freaking Bozak as his centre. So how did he suck in Toronto?

And how is Boston doing with Seguin and Hamilton BTW? Kessel lasted longer in Toronto than either did in Boston.

Jared Knight just served me coffee at Tim Horton's.
