Too early to see M Pete's influence.

I will say Zedorov was a physical deterrent, M Pete is not, what he makes up elsewhere is to be seen..

What we need from this current regime is to clean up their work regarding some of their regrettable signings and hopefully less distribution of draft picks to other teams. A better understanding of where they are at on the curve would be appreciated. But I do like their recent house cleaning, some nice handy work in fixing the putrid defence they put together, D.E.Pete has been a nice blessing, couldn’t have come at a better time. He’s prime example on why one should not Willy Nilly draft picks away like they have been to date. Hopefully they will he shutting that nonsense down.

This is my biggest issue with Big Z. He was fine in Calgary and here mostly because he was playing on the bottom pair. When he played higher with Myers for a brief stint last year he looked a little out of place, at least to me it was nervy watching that pair. So I had a major issue with dishing out a 5 x 6 to a bottom pair guy, even with the physical deterrent aspect factored in. You're seeing in Boston what happens when he plays higher in the lineup with a big cap hit in tow, he's been a target of backlash there. Not unlike Petey here after his big signing and underperforming. I have a hunch had we signed Big Z to that deal, and the way we've struggled this year, I'm not convinced he would've changed our fortunes much and I'm almost certain we'd be bitching about him a ton and how management got suckered into that deal. We're a fickle bunch here...we love our guys when they perform, but the moment it drops off and the team doesn't do well we're like a pack of vicious wolves.

So the question is is M. Pettersson a true top 4 and is he consistent there? Some have debated this but consensus seems to point to yes, and for that reason I favour him over Big Z. The 2 game sample size so far I already feel I could trust him more in a bigger role. Only wish it didn't cost us a 1st (and I hate having to cheer on the Rangers to lessen the value of the pick).

M-Petey seemed like the only defenceman on the Penguins, in terms of knowing where to be. He actually stood out and that unit is now happily on its way to a lottery pick.

I have been pining for Z for his unique set of skills but am persuaded that spending the money on a guy you don’t necessarily notice is absolutely fine.

Yep, important to start building the next wave that follows this wave. This coming wave looks pretty good all told especially now that we've seen some promise from D-Petey. Him, Willander, Kudryatsev, Mynio, Lekkerimaki, and Raty...obviously not all are going to hit but enough there to come out with at least of couple of key core pieces.

So yeah, very important to keep and use draft picks to stock that cupboard. But one thing I'll say in management's defence is that I'm pretty sure they took into account what they knew they had in the pipeline to weigh against what draft picks they could afford to give up.

For me, I am biased, but I gotta go with Big Zaddy. I haven't seen enough of MP29, but from what I can tell, he seems like the smarter, shut down D-man. Zaddy though has that package of size, grit, swagger and prob more skilled. MP29 has good height, but he's on the bird bones side. Meanwhile Zaddy is built like an ox; the type of guy who can withstand the rigors of the west coast travel and the grueling 7 game playoff series.

Hughes has been withheld from the Canucks’ lineup due to an oblique injury.

Canucks hope to see Quinn Hughes play SAT vs TOR, but it's largely captain's call for Team USA at 4Nations.
Take a break, Quinn - Let the team handle the leaves on a Saturday night.

Curious if you just started caring about management puking picks away just recently or has this always been something you've raised concern about.

It’s run it’s course, Blob. I’ve grown tired of it whereas I had once accepted it, somewhat.

The adjustments are a continuum?

Oblique injury... yikes, isn't that usually week-to-week rather than day-to-day?

I wonder why they traded Friedman. They have contract space. I actually liked him better than Juulsen. I mean I do t feel a loss but curious why they made the move?
