First of all, no rankings for prospects have come out yet that are current, so you cannot say leaves will be bottom 5. In fact if you knew any facts you would know many of the leaves prospects like Neilson, Dermot, Brooks, etc will be prospects with much higher rankings the next time a current one comes out.

And BTW, Nylander is currently tied with Bozak for points. My point was it's ridiculous to spin losing Tyler Bozak as some horrible negative for the leaves. Would you guys even consider him good? You've knocked far superior players on the leaves in recent weeks.

All of a sudden when it's convenient, Tyler Bozak is great. LOL.

I merely pointed out that he and JVR are 2 of your top 5 scoring forwards and UFAs in 1.3 years.

Not sure about Bozo, but everyone has been saying for years that JVR is vastly underpaid.

No other teams have UFAs next season. I'm beginning to suspect the leaves have a lower cap number than any other team from this talk.

Evander Kane can walk from Buffalo next season. He's been one of the hottest NHL players the past 2 months. And they have less cap room than the leaves. Are they screwed?

The leaves need to build at forward? Are you serious? Majority of NHL teams would have Kapanen on their NHL roster this year. Matthews/Marner are the best young 1-2 punch in the entire NHL. The leaves right now have one of the best offences in the entire NHL.

What team does not have a player who's UFA next season? Most of those teams don't have young players amongst the best in the AHL to replace him.
All Bozak is doing is taking time away from a superior player in Nylander. You're much better giving Nylander those minutes. Babcock has already stated Nylander will be a centre in the future. So you think a team should choose Bozak over a blue chipper like Nylander?

We've seen plenty of young shrimps (Vey et al) put up better numbers than him in the AHL

... but couldn't cut it in the bigs.

Kapanen is not done.. What rumours are you reading? He'll be fine. And BTW, haven't you learned your lessen about small players yet? ("Marner will be a bust")

Why do you think the leaves can't keep JVR? They likely can't afford both him and Bozak, but why would a management team want to keep him anyways? They can afford JVR no problem. They have a ton of cap $ coming off the books this summer.

Some of those UFAs need to be replaced.. also raises to Hyman/Brown/Zaitsev will eat most of that up.

Don't forget Cowan is a $650K credit this year, will be a $750K cap-hit next ($1.4M spread).

And Leaves will want to have room for ELC bonuses.

That plus "the sophomore jinx" all add up to a step backwards next year for your Leaves.

Not to mention the law of averages catching up to them in regards to injuries...

If Laine hadn't missed those games due to a concussion he'd be miles ahead of Matthews in scoring. I'm still taking Laine as the rookie of the year. Just tooooooooooo good. Even missing those few games he's ahead of Matthews on points. Unbelievable!
