So you ask yourself would you trade Horvat for Hutton? probably not, Horvat + 2nd for Hutton and Virtanen? :hmmm: too much on our side. (But Huts and JV are probably what they need the most) That's when it gets risky for both sides, unless both miraculously decide to go all out and make another jets/sabres like blockbuster with multiple pieces involved.

This deal would take months to complete, finally happening in July.
Hutton is overvalued by Canuck fans, that being said, he's the one I would trade. Tanev has more value and I don't want to see him traded. You'd never get Reinhart for Hutton, Girgensons maybe.

Hutton is like a Sopel or a Aucoin. Decent draft pick but nothing special, very meh type player. He's second pairing at best.
I don't know, Dude, that big bodied skating ability don't grow on trees. :?:
Lots of big guys who can skate - Zack Kassian. It's his lack of motor and drive for excellence that irritates me, see Stecher if you don't know what I mean. Hutton is having too much, last season went to his head, he needs to wipe the Curtis Lazar perma-smile off his face and play with more Stecher intensity.

Even though none of the Canucks' tradebait are likely to fetch a first, it seems like Benning's efforts to re-stock the 22-25 age group has now left of a gap of 19-22 prospects for the farm.
This has been mentioned before by someone but the mouth breathers tend to plug their ears and change the subject.

Blob: You think the owners are going to give the boot to the Pres, GM & the entire parent club coaching staff, don't you?
Do you really think they'll do it?

It was a concern at the time he was making his trades. Bringing in players that would require waivers and trading players that were still exempt from waivers was creating a log jam. Add to that, keeping players who weren't NHL ready but could not be assigned to the AHL. Two seasons in a row where we had basically little roster flexibility and lost players on waivers. Now we only lost Corrado and Etem so no biggie but my point is the poor asset management aspect.

But injuries last year and this have created space. I get why he felt the need to re-stock in a specific age bracket. It went along with the narrative of competing to make the playoffs and having NHL ready depth in the organization.

So far this season he hasn't been rash in going out to make silly trades. But he hasn't been able to pull off a hockey trade either.

I don't like the delusional thinking. We are not a good team. We are a long shot to make the playoffs. We are not competitive enough. We are not deep enough.......yet. It really is time to try and accumulate some picks/prospects. I don't advocate a scorched earth policy but there is baggage he should be moving out.
The only HW the Canucks need

I'll be shocked if they don't. Aquilini will let them stay until April and then I think all three will be given the boot.

Only willie will be let go after the season is done, maybe TL will step down but it doesn't seem like it, JB might think of hiring an experienced Prez tho to assist TL for this rebuild.

In the mean time we got a lot of decent prospects coming around, let the man work blobbo, christ 2 1/2 years and all the old timers are slowly getting swapped out.

JB's main goals should be selling a vet or two for picks.

Heatseeking a Sedin replacement, glad they are saying they are not doing that, why show your cards?

a big LW would be nice.

& re-sign Bo 7 years.

the climb back into playoff contention starts tonight, SKYO! Just 4 points amigo! The Canucks can still snag a good prospect drafting between 16th and 22nd.

Well if you want to start winning, then this is the lineup that needs to happen.

Sedins - Hansen

Baertschi - Horvat - Rodin

Granlund - Sutter - Eriksson

Skille - Gaunce - Burrows

Having Hansen and Rodin back makes a world of difference, can have quality on the 3rd/4th lines, while gaining more shooters. Sutter needs to be centering a supreme checking 3rd line with some scoring prowess.

Need Tanev back asap as well.

Remember the great Gillis trade - two 4th round picks for the great shutdown hockey centre - Sami Pahlsson? One of those 4th round picks the CBJ's drafted Josh Anderson? He has 8 goals and 3' assists with the CBJ's. Lovely

Speaking of Andersons, 20 year old RHD Rasmus Andersson has 15 points in his first 21 professional games.
