I never thought I’d ever say this but I’m at the point where I’d rather have Huberdeau than Pettersson.

Petey does lead his 2017 draft class in points. Is patience the key? Is it simply the Yips that are bothering Petey?

I think this probably what it is. The argument for it is quite strong

This being the case you have to let the player work through it. It's happened to many players over the years and they usually come round once the noise dies down. Just look at Huber dough

The skillset is there still. If you can help him through it the potential return is way beyond what you will get back by moving him with a pennies on the dollar return

You can't trade him for anything other than another top C or we're going to be in serious shit. It's already a massive concern.

Thank fuck Chytil has dramatically exceeded my expectations. He's looking like the best player in the trade to me (so far)

I watched the rags game last night and if you see how dynamic Jacob Chytil has played compared to JTM you will agree with me. This guy is an elite skater and can seriously dangle. Just need his wingers to generate more shots on net instead of the boards behind

As the Chef will attest to, its tough to do much with razor thin bird legs. Unless the guy somehow puts on some real strength and mass mid season, this season is a write off. He has legs like spaghetti noodles. His ankles start at his feet and continue to his waist. Hamstrings? He has ham threads. Those aren't calves, they're squirrels. He gets pushed off the puck way too easy.

So with his NMC kicking in do you gamble that he turns into Bo Jackson this summer or show up again with the lower body strength of a new born foal.

I gamble, wash my hands of it. Get what you can and start again.

I agree. They have a good chunk of cap space opening up as it stands now. If you can't get a quality package for him I'd take a first for him and see what they can do with 30 odd million of space. Or he has a few months to fix it

No to Rantanen. He is a product of Mackinnon and he needs 21 min per game. The teams to target, if they are looking for a package are Columbus, Buffalo, Detroit......

Rumours of Brayden Schenn being quietly available are swirling. That would be an excellent target for Van

I meant the UFA market if we dump Petey and go hard July 1st. Rantanen is a thoroughbred power forward with outer world skills. Give him the keys to the bank of Aqualini.

Stick a fork in him, 33 turning 34 in August with declining stats.
