I was reading that the inaccuracy is with the positivity rate, i.e. the % of positive tests out of total tests. Strangely, it was opposite to what Mëds is saying in that negative tests were counted twice. Also, some labs were reporting only the positive tests and not the negative ones (the 100% infected rate that Rats mentioned).Mëds wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 5:00 amYeah, and if someone was tested on a Monday and tested positive, and then retested the following week and still positive, it counted as two positive cases rather than a continuation of the first case.
The recovery rate in Florida is apparently 99.85%.
But you know, fixate on the graphs and bar charts that tell the narrative you want to believe.....just like Per does.
One thing I don’t get is why there aren’t specific age breakdowns readily availableMëds wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 5:00 amYeah, and if someone was tested on a Monday and tested positive, and then retested the following week and still positive, it counted as two positive cases rather than a continuation of the first case.

There is a better location breakdown based on the past 2 weeks. Something more akin to # of cases/regional district. I agree with limiting the location data to the public. In small communities it will lead to rumour mongering and fear if there are active cases, conversely, knowing there are not any active cases in your community will lead to careless apathy.rats19 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 9:43 amOne thing I don’t get is why there aren’t specific age breakdowns readily availableMëds wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 5:00 amYeah, and if someone was tested on a Monday and tested positive, and then retested the following week and still positive, it counted as two positive cases rather than a continuation of the first case.

There is generalizations but nothing detailed, also locally here why do they never tell you where the cases are geographically? They say which health region but that’s it.
I don’t know I don’t trust anything or anyone anymore...entirely anyways
Everyday the New starts off with how many new cases occurred in BC, I always thought, so what? Until a vaccine is found that can 100% stop the COVID19 strain then there will always be breakouts. Also of these breakouts how many actually require medical assistance?Future clusters of cases should not be considered failures, as long as they are managed appropriately with early identification, case and contact tracing, and root cause analysis of the factors involved in transmission.
Right.... because anecdotal quotes from no name sources and people trying to explain away the bad news are so much more reliable than the official figures, eh?

Yeah, well, what do you expect ...
As long as numbers and hospitalizations are low, contract tracing and quick detection are up to snuff. it is good. One thing to watch is spread through the community (bad) as opposed to limited clusters (tolerable and manageable). The goofs from the coast partying in Kelowna should be shot.2Fingers wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 11:33 am Thanks Tops,
from the NP write up, I thought this is important.
