Pronman’s top 107 prospects has Dach at 10th, with the likes of Krebs, Newhook and Podkolzin after him. Would you take Dach in that situation if you’re Benning?
I think Dach drops close to 10th. He’s in that 8th to 10th spot. Buffalo and Edmonton don’t need a fever like him, they are picking 7th, 8th. Detroit May take him at 6th but doubt it. I can’t see him going before 7th, 8th. I doubt Anaheim at 9 let him slip by. He’s a Getzlaf type of player and Getzlaf is winding down. If he is available at 10th it’s a tough choice, he’s a natural centre, not a winger. You’re not drafting him to play on the 3rd line

I can foresee a future where Petterson moves back to LW. Lighten some of the burden on him, and let him become possibly the most dangerous LW in the league. It's why I wouldn't shy away from picking a center.

I wouldn’t shy away from picking a centre either if he’s BPA. I’m sure one of Horvat, Petterson or Dach could be effective on the wing. If not this kid won’t be ready for top six ice time for a few years, so you make a trade if you have to.

If he's the BPA in Benning's eyes, I'd hope he takes Dach. If Krebs or Newhook were both still on the board, though, I dunno. You still need a frame that can handle the rigours of the playoff game and you know Dach will grow into it and has the skill to do something with it. The concern is his speed. Newhook and Krebs have what Dach lacks - the skating ability. If the game really is going to be about speed over size then do you take a chance that Dach can improve his skating, or do you go with Krebs or Newhook and hope they can grow frames that can excel when the going gets rough.
As for whether he stays centre or wing, it's a good problem to have. You can never have too many centres. Someone's going to move over but he would hopefully be an option two years down the road.

There's a possibility Mathew Boldy could conceivably be still around at 10.
That would be right down Benning Avenue. That would also be major f**king cool.
Months ago I said Dach and I'd stick with that but these slow transition reports bother me.
Still be a very good pick.
If Jim is going Swedish, and that is a VERY distinct possibility, I'd rather have Bro then Sod.
2 cents done.

for 2nd round I'm hoping one of Vlasic, Foote, Hoglander or Lassi Thompson fall to #40.

I don’t think natural winger - Boldy is getting past Buffalo or Edmonton
I’d take Dach at 10. He gives us size in the top 6. Try to convert him to a winger. That being said can’t see Anaheim not picking him.
We need someone ahead of us to reach for the 5’-6” stump legs/choppy little steps - Caulfield
I wonder if Mëds ankle to knee is longer than Caulfield’s entire leg.

I think the scouting combine on June 1 will really help cement the #10 pick, see who is out of shape and who takes working out seriously.
The NHL has invited the top 109 draft-eligible players to the 2019 Scouting Combine which will once again be held in Buffalo. Fitness testing will start on June 1st, where players from all over the world will compete to show their athletic ability and bump up their draft stock at least a few positions.
While the Scouting Combine can’t make a player a star, it can certainly shine a light on some physical attributes that may have been overlooked throughout his minor and junior hockey career.

Is this thing really of any use? Or is it just the NHL trying to mimic the NFL?

And shows the all-important "attitude" that Benning looks for when he drafts.

Who was it that couldn't do a single pullup? Was that Willie Nylander?
With the way NFL prospects train
for the combine at the expense of any other form of training, I'm not sure there is much use for the combine.

Bennett was the pull-up king
