Oh my. Now what do they do. A strong first. PK working. Didn’t give up a first period goal. Scored a first period goal on the PP. can they put together 3 strong periods?

Jaysus, Canucks management might need to make their TDL trades sooner than later or this season might get out of hand.

Man their defence is so similar to the past few years. How many times have we seen a failed clear end up in our net? A lot of work to do to clean up our own end.

Decent effort but no gas left.

Their legs looked sluggish at times in the third. O’Connor looked gassed out there towards the end.

Okay first for a last place caliber team against a Stanley Cup runner up.
Deer in headlights second. Lankinen, who had a decent game overall, is a guesser. Once they start going in, reminds me of Cloutier. Sometimes I think those exaggerated push offs are to have "no chance" on plays he could have a chance on. Again, overall a decent game, but....
Third -- good push.
Overall, it looked like a team on the back end of a back to back. Without legs, the counterattack isn't as effective, and Vegas plays as much more of a unit than Edmonton or Calgary.
A few more thoughts:
Getting the puck out of the zone is as much on the wingers as the D. Some of it is the jump-the-zone strategy, but way too many passes are not being received softly. Surprising for some (Rossi), evidence of time to hang it up with others (Gallagher), evidence of not-an-NHLer with others (Baines).
Linus Karlsson has gone to the Brock Boeser school of can't skate and hold puck at the same time. Like Boeser, he's usually decent with what he does with it, but this more than footspeed slows down the game. Its like they pick up their dribble.
Speaking of Gallagher, I think he has to be the next healthy scratch, no? Not saying every game, but he really should be in the press box rotation.
That's all criticism, but overall it was a respectable yet unexceptional effort coming off a season with a lot of unrespectable games.... They cleaned up a bit from the the first three games, but didn't produce near as many dangerous chances. Its a different kind of progress. They got the result they deserved, a one goal regulation loss.
