I definitely hoped they’d skid farther and get a better pick. Multiple times I predicted 78-82 points.

Blobs math - “the Canucks are the heavy favourites to end up with the best lottery odds for drafting Jack Hughes at the 2019 draft”
9 teams finished with worst records than Blobs Canucks in 2019

The Canucks were much better team than what Blob expected.

Not really. They were 22 and 36 after 60 minutes.
They killed it in gimmick time

This RHD Moritz Seider is looking like a potential mid 1st round steal. Potentially the 2nd defenceman selected after Byram

YUP! Could be a possible German Mattias Ekholm.
Definitely need to get another 1st to get Seider.
Some possible 1st round targets to zero in on are #16, 17, 20, 21 and 26 is reach, but could get Lassi Thompson there.
Avs have #4 &
#16
Vegas
#17
NYR #2 and
#20
Pens
#21
Flames
#26 could get that if you take on James Neals contract while giving up a cheap cap hit top 9 winger + 3rd.

Vegas has unloaded a lot of their top prospects - Brannstrom, Suzuki etc, don’t see them trading the 17th
Rangers are in a rebuild - no
Flames, not sure but it’s 26th not worth it
Pens have decimated their prospect pool they are heading into ‘the party is over’ territory
I still say the Avs 16th could be had
The only real trade chip we have is Demko, who ahead of us needs a goalie? Edmonton, Buffalo, Detroit, Chicago?

Demko or Markstrom if the deal is good enough.
Although I don't know why, Sutter may have some value to a team that thinks they need a penalty killing,
experienced center.
You might get a 1st in the top 15 for markstrom. I would be scared to do that, just saying it's gonna be a bold move from this point
to get the team closer to where they want to be.

Good article by Kuzma - I like Soderstrom, Boldy and Zegras as well, and I like the philosophy of building through C and D. I'd probably prefer Krebs over Zegras but I'm not that fussed either way.
Jimbo is usually honest to a fault, so with some GMs I'd think they are laying a smokescreen, but not with him.

New York can only handle a rebuild for a few years & that's it, this is the CITY OF DREAMS, billions roll thru there, hence why NY is not a good bet for a 7 yr rebuild.
Calgary has so many vets they need to contend.............same with the Pens, Crosby/Malkin oddly are aging in the tooth.

Every list I’ve seen has one D man rated in the top ten. There’s a lot of kids up front that project as top six forwards. I hate the fact that Benning seems to almost tip his hand a lot of time. I’d be a little miffed if Newhook, Boldy, Krebs or even Cozens was still there and he picked Soderstrom. Sure they need D but they also need skill up front. This kind of thinking bit him in the dink in 2016. Soderstrom is also another tiny D man. How many little wee guys can you play on the same defence?
