Carney and Polly aree both kinda carnies when you think about it.
Carney Lied, gosh dang it!!!
Meanwhile a Conservative spokesperson put out this statement;
“Last night, Mark Carney lied to Canadians,” Michael Barrett, a Conservative member of Parliament from eastern Ontario, told reporters Wednesday.
“Donald Trump asked companies to move to the United States, asked them to take their jobs, take their investment dollars to the United States.”
Meanwhile the Liberals put out this statement;
An aide to Carney said the former central banker’s comments on Tuesday night were actually referring to the formal vote by Brookfield shareholders, which took place on Jan. 27, shortly after he resigned from all of his corporate roles to enter politics. Carney had also been the chair of Bloomberg Inc.
But the Conservatives say that the decision was made in October which is why they deem Carneys comments to be a lie, which is interesting considering Donald Trump wasn't elected until November...
Bottom line?
I'm going to lie about you lying....
Forgotten in all of this by PP supporters?
PP couldn't get anywhere near any of Carneys former jobs, and certainly not one which was responsible for managing assets of $800 Billion and now $1 Trillon...
I've been around too long to get excited about kabuki theater.

Carney was not referring to the vote by shareholders. his words were:
“The formal decision of the board happened after I ceased to be on the board.”

Why aren't the other leadership candidates all over this?

PP seems to have a problem keeping up with timelines...
Blaming Trudeau for an economic crisis a year before being elected Prime Minister and now blaming Carney for lying about bending the knee to Donald Trump before Donald Trump was elected President...
I will agree that Carney was being cute with the facts...
The shareholders voted for the move to the US sometime around when the announcement was made in October and the Board certified the decision after Carney had resigned and moved into politics....
What gets me about PP and his cronies is that they are so outraged and are on a moral high ground while they themselves are footloose and fancy free with fact....
When you ask google if PP is a liar you get lots of headlines like this one;
The Conservatives plus other letters, Nov. 27: ‘Pierre Poilievre comes across as a liar. He lies’
All of this aside, we have a chance to elect a former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England who was hired to be the chair of the board of a now $1 Trillion dollar company which you likely own shares in if you have any type of Canadian fund along with a history of succesfully navigating countries and companies thru crisis or we can choose to elect a lifer in government whose claim to fame outside politics is that he was once a newspaper carrier.
Not only that but what has he done for the Canadian people in his 21 years in office? Has he drafted a bill which passed?
If Carney becomes leader of the LIberals and if he defeats PP on one hand I hope he gets his rear end kicked out of the leadership position and a competent person is elected in his place while on the other hand I think its good for the country to have an opposition leader like PP rather than Singh and the NDP...

The media needs a few bones to chew as well. If PP says it, it's a lie. If the media says it, it's true.

The Globe ran an opinion piece on the state of the Conservative Party under the headline;
The Conservatives have had the rug pulled out from under them
Its behind a paywall ...
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politic ... nder-them/
It talks about how their once insurmountable lead is now down to single digits and in some polls trailing the Liberals who might end up with a majority government...
PP and the Conservatives were all about attacking JT's record and policies like carbon tax and that Canada is broken which played well until Trump came along and JT resigned...
Like a dog chasing a bus who suddenly finds it idling at a stoplight, Mr. Poilievre and his party have gotten what they wanted – so now what?
You could see them struggling with this in real time this week – stuck in a gear that no longer made sense, but unable to find another way to move forward.
Conservative MPs held four separate press conferences, trying to seize some attention, frame the Liberal debates and most of all, find a way to define and defile Mr. Carney already.
The article ends with this thought ...
Somewhere in the world, there must be a language that has a word for the wistfulness you feel for the enemy you wish you were still fighting.
Many of the attack ads no longer include PP but rather the likes of Andrew Sheer who like PP is a lifer politician and someone the Party kicked out as leader after his disasterous bid to become Prime Minister...
That in a nutshell is the problem with the Conservatives...they could get away on attacking a disliked JT and beating up on his record and policies which was another way of hiding the fact that their leader is just as flawed and in some ways has a worse record while never being in a governing position...
They can't tell us why PP is a better choice than Carney because he simply isn't so they are desperate to somehow majically make Carney the boogey man....
Long term my concern is why aren't a Carney and a Bayliss Conservatives? What has happened to the Party that it puts out the likes of Sheer and PP as its leaders?
Lifer politicians with next to zero experience running anything....

I will keep it simple, Carney is a liberal who spend like drunken sailors. If he is voted in then look for higher deficits with no long term plan to get costs under control.
Liberals have fucked the Armed Forces for years and that won’t change. The carbon tax is not revenue neutral, the Canadian government makes money on it and uses it to for general spend. Why farms are taxed for using gas which was highly promoted not so long ago is beyond me. Why I am paying a carbon tax because my gas furnace was original and I’m not replacing it with a high priced heat pump is also beyond me. The carbon tax can get the fuck out of my life.
I am not naive to think PP will come in and make life wonderful for us but the liberals had their chance and it is time for a new look/future for Canada.

He can't stop lying. Canada provided less than 1% of US semi conductor imports.

Maybe because Carney and Bayliss are WEF shills? Elites who recognize that the Conservative Party represents the part of Canada that doesn’t want globalization under a hegemony of elitists.
Carney with the Conservative Party, and holding either their ideals, I’d vote for him based upon education and experience. But he is running for leadership of the Liberals, and he’s hand in glove with the same group of people that have been making policy that has ruined this country…..he’s been advising them and amongst them all along.

I don't look at it that way, I've always taught my kids to look at the person and not the Party...
And if you look over Carney's career it has been in the sevice of both the Liberal and the Conservative Parties...
The Conservatives are trying another attack ad against Carney, this one accusing him of overstating his involvment in the 2008 financial crisis...
The reality was that Carney and Flaherity while working together became close friends and Flaheritys former chief of staff has come to Carneys defence in a tweet;

Flaherty and Carney were a dynamic duo, arguably the best in Canadian history...
