It seems that lying and making false claims in politics has become the norm these days. Not surprised at all. I do not trust Carney or any liberal for that matter, to get Canada on the right track again. If Carney does get in, I can't wait to watch Trump shred him to bits. Carney is a banker, not a politician, and he will be like a fish out of water against Trump. We need a pit bull as a PM, like PP, who will stand up to Trump.

Why shouldn't Canada have a nuclear deterent?
Never crossed our mnds until another NATO country made it clear it has interest in taking the country away from us....
Came away pretty upbeat about the opportunites that lay ahead for the country, and was pretty upset learning that 80% of our military spend goes to purchase US products..
Man has Canada been sleeping at the wheel...
Carney and Bayliss were both pretty impressive while Gould just wants to give us more free stuff to make things better...
There's no deterrent in existence that will prevent the US army from rolling across the border and seizing control of Canada in a few days, or at most weeks. This is just shit talk to impress Liberal voters and Atlanticists accross the pond. France and UK would surrender without a fight in a confrontation with the US. This whole episode was childish.
We
should rebuild our military though Rik, I'm with you on that score. We have become the laughing stock of NATO (the USA) and Mr Trudeau has earned the title 'governor' in the process. And not buying the US MIC's riciculously expensive, battlefield ineffective, over engineered product would be great if we could somehow manage it. I don't see it happening though

Both Carney and Freeland returned to their WEF roots and some of a "Global New World Order".
Carney round aboutly admitted the countries finances have been a mess the past five years that he has been advising the government and that many of the policies have been wrong and need to be scrapped. Freeland countered that he was taking Conservative talking points.
All want to keep social programs in place, Gould and somewhat Freeland, want to expand them, cut taxes, and increase spending. Money grows on trees.
Carney said that grants, subsidies and tax relief to foreign companies, think Trudeau's EV mess, are the things he would split out of his operational budget into a seperate budget. It seems rather arbitrary what spending goes where but it is what he calls investments. It isn't a capital expenditure budget, rather a slush fund budget for pet white elephants.
Gould, who should be running for the NDP, with the zinger of the night when talking of dealing with Trump, "you don't bring a pocket calculator to a knife fight". Sadly that was as rough as the debate got.
Bayless was the only one to criticize Trudeau's handling of Trump negotiations a weak.
There was no real domestic bread and butter discussion. Nothing on crime, drugs, very little on housing and Gould was the only one to connect with voters on pocket books issues. Sadly her idea are for more government spending.
As Kinsella noted, it was Ottawa insiders sipping wine in a swanky bar talking to Ottawa insiders. They weren't talking to voters.
There is more life in a scrap of lumber than in Carney. He'll be eaten alive in a real debate or negotiation where he needs to think on his feet. Great moment in the post debate presser when a reporter asked him about being vice chair of Brookfield. Carney snapped " I was chairman".
All refused and weaseled out of the direct question of what they would do differently from Trudeau.
Carney went after Pierre's security clearance. LOL, don't they realize that he has security clearance when he was a minister in the Harper government. Carney squirmed when asked how he had time to do his security clearance paperwork but not his financial disclosure paperwork.
Pierre and Yves won the debate.
The pledges of allegiance to the WEF had the blogosphere rolling in the aisles.
This thing didn't travel well beyond Canadian borders

Good to know Harper made PP get his security clearance, doesn't answer why he doesn't have it today?
How does getting his security clearance make a difference or help in any way? If there is a security issue, Trudeau knows about it, and should address it. Else he is using Canada's security as a political tool, and is complicit in the interference. Trudeau has no restrictions on releasing the info. He is the gatekeeper.
If PP got the clearance, he still cannot take any action based on the info, as that would violate the terms of his clearance, and be a crime. Trudeau even said as much during the foreign interference inquiry. Trudeau gave 2 options. Deny a nomination "for no reason", leaving the only reason to do so is for foreign interference, or make up a bullshit story, and lie about the reason. Trudeau actually recommended lying.
But, that does nothing to address current MPs, or anyone who is involved but not seeking a nomination.
So, really, what's the point?
Ironically, the Liberal machine denied Ruby from running, claiming foreign interference. No evidence shown. No ability to defend herself against the allegations. No way to find out if it is true, or if the Party is lying.

Conservatives have fumble the Carney lie story by making it into something it isn't. Brookfield did not move to appear Trump as the Conservatives are suggesting.
They were on form ground with Carney blatantly lying to Canadians and could have run with that to make Carney untrust worthy. By trying to link it to Carney catering to Trump they are extending reality beyond comprehension.
I'm guessing this is Jenni Byrne

Did Mark Carney work with then Finance Minister Paul Martin in 1995-1998 as he claims or was he at Cambridge studying and with Goldman Sachs as his resume states?

X is having fun with it.
Mark Carney scored the OT winner in the 2010 Winter Olympics ....
His damage control from the campaign says Pierre can't face up to Trump, his MP supporters say he was acting in the best interest of his shareholders. No one is denying he lied.
This is the guy with Trudeau's backroom advisors and PMO as his handlers.
It is Christie "I was never a member of the Conservative Party" Clark level of bullshit.
Meanwhile Justin was asked today what he thought about Carney saying the economy isn't in very good shape. He rambled on, rather taken aback and stumbling through, how great the Liberals running for leadership all are...

Carney has gone from lying to portray himself as a serious banker who can handled crisis and has experience in crisis management to a guy who turns turtle and hides when caught in his lies.
Three days and he hasn't come out of his shell. This is Trudeau's playbook when shit hits the fan. It is the same thing Justin did when Freeland quit. He went on vacation and did not speak to Canadians for two weeks.
In the meantime he has a meme thread on X making fun of him that is going viral. #carneylies
Is this his crisis management experience in action that he is telling us about.
