Caufield has a lethal elite shot, his goals per game is up there with Phil Kessel, and he likely has a better shot than Eichel, Matthews and Keller.

We have Pettersson and Hughes, Skyo. That’s small enough. Have you not been watching the playoffs? Also, Caulfield isn’t the greatest skater either. Not saying he isn’t going to be good but with watching these playoffs we need size and speed. We are a small team and we need to get faster

Better shot than a guy who has 111 goals in his first 212 games? Caufield has a very good shot but let’s not get carried away here. I’m still not sold on him simply because I wonder how he would do when the going gets tough playoffs - it’s something you probably wouldn’t know unless you interviewed him, his coaches or his teammates, because it’s a heart thing more than anything else IMHO.

For me it’s all great because Caufield doing well means he may even go before our pick and somebody else drops. If Brackett and Jimbo think he’s the guy I trust them, but I’d still like Boldy, Krebs or Soderstrom there.

I’d still like to see Soderstrom, and while we are at it take his buddy Bjornfot in the second round. They looked very good paired together for some of the game today. I’m a huge proponent of drafting D.

This Harley kid is a riser, big smooth skating D-man. Starting to come around to Newhook.

The top 10 looks pretty decent. Canucks should get a decent player at 10.

Not out of the realm that some of Cozens, Dach or Podkozlin being available at 10th pick. Outside of Byram and Kakko, 5 of the top 7 players could be Americans - Hughes, Turcotte, Zegras, Boldy, Caulfield. Newhook and Krebs are making a case to go higher as well

I'm of the opinion if you have an abundance of of elite skill surrounded by big gritty guys + also middle sized skill - you can contend and win like the Blackhawks with Toews 6'2-200lbs, Kane 5'11 177lbs and Keith 6'1 192lbs & they added big Hossa, then surrounded em with big gritty depth players that can be swapped out.

Core pieces:
Pettersson, Boeser, Hughes - is our Toews, Kane, Keith.

Brock and Bo got some decent beefy size.

Horvat is like our Hossa sorta. aha

Add one more sniper to that group and another right shot QB type combined with the current gritty depth & brutha this team is golden imo.

Look at the size of the Avalanches 3 best forwards - McKinnon, Rantanen and Landeskog. If our top 3 skill guys are Pettersson, Hughes and Caulfield I’m worried for us come the playoffs.

So many good wingers available in the second round - my guess is Jimbo grabs one of Pelletier, Hollander, Grewe or Poulin. I’d prefer D but a good scoring wing is also needed.

I think Korczak will be there. He’s been solid on the big ice but he’s not dynamic, and I’d prefer that in a high pick. Then again I thought the same about Woo last year and he’s proven me wrong.

Harley can’t play D - very good skating and O but he misses defensive assignments quite a bit. Reminds me of Broberg quite a bit.

I think the top 10 will see a surprise or two. One or two of Caufield and Broberg could easily go higher than rated, meaning a couple of guys drop. Lots of talent available.

Gaudreau sucked this playoffs. So did Brayden Point. Marner has been very good though he’s bigger than those two guys, and Tyler Johnson was spectacular a couple of year back. It’s really hard to excel as a tiny guy when the hooking and holding gets crazy like it does every year in the playoffs. For that reason if all else is equal I like the bigger guy.

Give me Boldy or Krebs if it’s a forward. Soderstrom if it’s a D. If there’s a faller like Zegras, Dach or Cozens I’m fine with that too. Caufield looks amazing against juniors but not sure if it translates to the NHL, and I’m not sure if we need to take that chance given how much other talent is there.

Right on about size and strength. There's room for a couple but when the playoffs come, those smaller skill guys better be well insulated with
sufficiently talented larger fellows. Gaudreau round one is a great example.

Just get Lavoie then.
