From what I recall reading last year, Byram's yuge season was very unexpected - didn't he climb from a high-2nd rounder projection to lottery pick over the course of the season?
Meanwhile Pod dipped in the rankings due to his KHL contract - which is ridiculous.
That's why you gotta be careful with the kids that shoot up the rankings unexpectedly, and have to carefully look at why a top-ranked player dropped.
Serious health issues (I.e. Nolan Patrick)? No. Contract taking kid to age 20? Take it and run.

Not many kids make any sort of meaningful impact before age 20 anyway(QH is not your average talent) so it was a good gamble to look long and take the better player.

He was always going to be a top 10 pick. I was surprised at the 70 odd points especially especially on that scabby low scoring team. That and his excellent playoffs propelled him up the draft. He’ll be a good all around D man but he won’t score like Makar or Hughes.

Godkolzin would have gone top 5 easy if it weren’t for the Russian Factor.

Byfuglien and the Jets moving towards
mutual termination.
Of course stupid Loui has to "heat up" right when the door is cracking open for a mutual termination and end to that contract!

So what the hell is going on in Buffalo? Players chirping in the media, superstars rumoured to be wanting out....
They really looked to be headed into a good place before the season began and now it looks to be a disaster. Kreuger was supposed to be the glue that bound that mess together yet here we are.
I would say they're poised to move out some key pieces this summer which may include Jack Eichel

Full Tank Rebuild! Apparently the only way to fly. 7 top 8 lottery picks over the last 7 drafts and well on their way to their 8th lottery pick in a row. Trust me, losing is a disease. Eichel is sick of it! You should only do it for so long, then get out!! Winning is infectious!! Tank hockey is for losers!! Jack Burton LOVES Tank Hockey!! He’s a very sick man!!!

Kreuger is fine... I alluded to the problem a while back:

It's a big problem.

Prosecutor in Buffalo sex trafficking case: 'It’s happening here.'
The woman testified before Chief U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. that her customers would call or text her. They ranged from a teacher who she met in his suburban home for a "date" to members of the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills, whom she did not name.
"Bills players, Sabres players, also people not famous," she said.
The Buffalo News is withholding the woman's name because she has not been charged in the case and is considered a victim of human trafficking.
Valentino Shine (her crack supplier and her pimp) had control over her because he knew she was vulnerable and had nowhere to turn. He would often hit her, mostly on the head, if she broke rules.
"I was scared for my life," she said. "I always got hit in the head."
On Dec. 21, 2015, the woman testified, Shine punched her in her left eye so hard it made her wet her pants. He then made her sit in her wet pants and poured water on her, video recording the incident. "That was one of the most humiliating moments of my life," she said.
A major shakeup is in order, Sabres have been shopping a few of their dmen since last summer...

Godkolzin will fit like a glove in our top 6. He’s a beauty. Larionov compares him to Mark Messier!
He has a big steamer in his hat??

What did I just read? I will tell you what I just read - nonsense. let me out s now tie in this:
Here is reason to be concerned with Bowen - on pace for 6 goals. To put in perspective - Woo currently has 6 goals. Byram scored 26 goals last season. Combine that with his ouchy WJC showing it’s not looking good. Did he have a one off Florida Garrison like season last year? For Colorado’s sake, I hope not
And to think ole Doyle is trading Godkolzin for him
Byram has always projected as an all around D man. No idea what Garrison or Woo have to do with anything. More red herrings from the Chef.
Bowen Byram with 10 points in his last 6 games.

33 games - 3 goals 18 assists 21 points
On pace for 6 goals 36 assists 42 points over 66 games
Last season
67 games - 26 goals 45 assists 71 points
Yikes! Brutal trend
Now up to 30 points in 37 games.
