I’m just not seeing the chips to get another first but if we are bringing back Edler and they are wanting to promote Juolevi then the left side is stacked with Edler, Hughes, Hutton and Juolevi. Tryamkin also is a left shot D-man as well as Sautner, Teves and Brisebios. Maybe Hutton is moved but at the most you’re getting a 2nd for him unless we package him with our 2nd. I wouldn’t be trading Juolevi. Virtanen might get ya something close to a late first but that’s a backwards move by the Canucks with pressure mounting to start winning now instead of waiting 2-3-4 years for a late first rounder to develop. The likes of Virtanen and Hutton in a “hockey trade” makes more sense.
Is it out of the realm to trade Gaudette? Keep Sutter around to hold a place for when Madden arrives? Not sure how the Sutter/Gaudette situation unfolds, I gather Gaudette starts the year in Utica? Then Sutter gets injured 2 weeks into the season?
Julio will require at least 20 games in the AHL before he is brought up.
But you are right the left side is full.

I expect Sautner to make the team next year, isn't he waiver eligible now? I don't think they want to lose him for nothing as Jimbo and the coaches seem to really like him. Edler will be re-signed, it's a foregone conclusion IMHO. I agree Hutton is probably worth a 2nd, and I'd do that deal as I think he's a luxury not a necessity with Edler, Hughes, Sautner and maybe Olli ready to go.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade like Gaudette to TO for Nylander and a contract dump, as TO badly needs to shed a ton of salary this off-season. Don't forget they still have that Nathan Horton contract they are carrying around which could be an issue giving tagging problems and can only go 10% over the cap in the summer. They likely need $10 million to sign Marner and another $4 million to sign Kapanen, and they are already at $75 million for next year - that's a lot of cap to get rid of.
I'm hoping Sutter is long gone, he's not necessary and even when he plays he does nothing except kill penalties. He may have some worth to somebody but he's redundant here and takes a spot from a young guy. Beagle is the same player and he's signed for 3 more seasons - if it was me I'd retain 50% on Sutter, as his value would be much better if he was only around $2 million on the cap. Maybe get a 2nd or 3rd for him then?

Yes I know none of this will happen but shootin' the shit with some ideals.
- Yup we ain't getting another 1st rounder, could have had one if Edler waived, but nope - but hey it is what it is.
- Hutton+JV I'd move for a young power LW+
- Package Tanev + OJ for Trouba, give him his $7M-$8M per, he'll take that. Imagine a Hughes-Trouba pairing for the next 8+ years?
- Eriksson for Alzner (bottom pairing of Alzner-Rafferty) & in one year if Tryamkin returns, we can finally trade Edler for a 1st lol.
- Move one of goldy/baertschi.
- Be nice for Sutter to mentor Gaudette I suppose - have both on the 3rd line. Sutter's reliability as a center is a nice option to have while Gaudette learns the ropes of the hardest position to play up front, can never have too many centers I say.
sign Dzingle
(hutton/jv trade) - Petey - Boeser
Pearson - Horvat - Dzingle
(Goldy/Baertschi) - Sutter - Gaudette
Roussel - Beagle - Motte
depth: Grans/Leivo/Schaller
Edler-Stecher
Hughes-Trouba
Alzner-Rafferty
depth: Sautner/Teves/Biega/Chatfield/Brisebois

IMHO, there is no way they trade Gaudette. Madden is no less than two years away from an NHL job.
Pretty sure Hutton earned a new contract when he came through damn good with the injuries and showed he was capable of big minutes.
That's my guess, but we'll see.
I like the idea of moving Sutter but I don't think the owners will put an OK stamp on retention, at least not on Sutter.
They might on Eriksson if he could be convinced that it would be in his best interest in moving his family and his trade now as opposed
to later when he is out of options.
Well, I don't even know why I'm talking about LE, when I'm almost certain he will either play out or sit out his contract in Van, then
retire and go back to Sweden.

He's made it clear he's not happy with his checking role while TG seems content on Loui Eriksson playing 3rd/4th line.
He's played in Dallas and Boston, I'm sure he'd be ok with a move if he wanted a more prominent role with another team, the ol' change of scenery deal.

I see Hutton as an asset to shore up another area - agreed he had a good year and he's worth something now in an area of strength. I'd trade Hutton once Edler re-signs, though if Edler doesn't (unlikely) it's not as big a deal as you already have a solid left side. The right needs a lot more attention.
I'm hoping Loui is gone, he's been nothing short of a disaster here and given his age it's not going to get any better. You likely have to retain on him too but I'd do it to get rid of him, unless there's a challenge trade out there for another underperfoming guy that could happen - it seems to have worked for with Guddy-Pearson so perhaps that's the route they go.

Prior to being injured I do not believe he was ready to come up and then combine that with his injuries he is going to need some games to get back into shape and back into the grove of playing hockey.

Reefer casting that shadow of a doubt for all things Juolevi, why be different eh Reefer? Tow the company line, and pile on like everyone else
Ollie has a strong camp, he’s in the starting line up next fall. It’s not a stretch...unless you still want to mad about not drafting Tkachuk, if so, pile on that Mt Everest of doubt, it’s hip.

Skyo move this garbage to the trade thread.
There’s no fucking way Trouba is signing long term in Vancouver. It’s Detroit or somewhere back east.

I said he will need 20 games before he gets called.
Highly unlikely he can knock anyone off the team.

Fortunately, it will take less than 20 games for an injury to open up a spot. Book it.
