Sweden looks solid. Seem to be getting stronger as the tournament winds. Definitely play a much more disciplined and team game than Team Canada.

This Latvia team definitely has some jam. It’s either coaching or the players are playing for each other. Definitely a culture in that room. Wish I could say the same for Team Canada, the team of individuals.

Definitely seeing the potential of a solid Mattias Ohlund like career out of Willander.

This Linards Feldbergs is too much, lol. Do you draft this kid late first round?

Latvia doesn’t have the best players, but they play the smartest and most disciplined game. And with a ton of heart.
On a good day, with a hot goalie, they can rock anyone. And they have.
The shot count was 50-13. This is a game that Sweden should win easily, but Latvia plays smart and makes it really hard. They trust the goalie and essentially lets you take as many low percentage shots as you like but close down the middle of the ice.
Sweden doesn’t really have any real snipers on this team. Apart from Sandin-Pellikka, I guess, but he’s a d-man.Most of the goals are tip-ins or rebounds. As the Latvians very effectively prevented us from parking in front of the goalie, scoring got difficult.
We had a 3-0 lead, 4-0 before the coach’s challenge, but then they scored two quick goals to make the game interesting.
Fortunately we can also play a disciplined game, and we rode it out.
But damn, Feldbergs is good. And he goes down in a perfect split, balls to the ice, no fivehole.

Willander led the team in icetime again. 24:12 this time.

I'm not seeing MO as a comparable. Matty was a big hitting, slow turning but powerful skater. Steady Eddy type.
Ive been searching for a comparable and it always ends up being Gus Forsling. Hes an elite skater who man's the point well distributing pucks at an elite level but doesn't have the big cannon. He's also a beast defending the rush and efficient retrievals leading to reliably steady first passes out of the zone
It's the same guy

Hakkaa päälle Suomen pohjat!*
Finns are looking good! Three goals on five shots!
The Slovaks have switched goalie, and the first period hasn’t ended yet!
The US looked good against the Swiss too.

Old Finnish war cry, roughly ”strike them down, sons of Finland!” that also gets shouted at sports events.
Back when Finland was part of Sweden we had a Finnish elite light cavalry called the Hakkapeliitta, named so for their war cry.
I always buy studded Nokia Hakkapeliitta winter tyres. They are the best. No worries all winter, whether you drive on ice, snow or sleet.

The only problem is that in some parts of Stockholm they don’t allow studded tyres. Idiots.

I meant more in how he is a minute muncher all situations guy. The coaches seem to trust him the most. Definitely not an Ohlund type but more saying how both are very reliable players

Canada will rise to the occasion. It's a matter of national pride.
I hate Dave Cameron as our coach though. He seems to be a career failer
