Look where that has gotten you.

Better to be the hat than to be the ass.
Not sure about that, have you ever seen anyone lick a hat?

I think I may have lost some brain cells trying to understand that.

Unless ... you mean ... it's better to be an ass ... because of all that lickin' you're gonna get.

Cos .. nobody licks a hat ... that's just weird. Fucking hat-lickers!

Handle it? It's pretty much done. ;)
The rebuild that is. Don't know about all the licking items.

All depends if you receiving or giving.

Why do I go down this path?

Only thing I can think is that he's using the "severe beating" definition of "licking"?

As in he's 'an ass who enjoys receiving a severe beating' ??

(may be a subconscious thing)

This might explain why he refuses to believe in the rebuild despite the progress.

(masochistically prefers to see his team as a failure)

I've tried to help him but he has extreme problems trusting authority figures.

(The Great Strangelove, Genius Jim Benning, Brains Bettman, Lord Trump, Bingo, etc)

Likely this is an irrational fear created by mistreatment at the hands of his father.

(recall that he always bows before the Fabulous Hockey Widow)

Ironically this is the type that seldom receive the help they need.

It's because, you see, the helper must become a trusted authority in the patient's life

... and the patient can't trust anyone in authority. :(

This kind of transference conundrum is what we call a "double bind".

I know the underlying issues are much worse than simply "not being able to handle a rebuild".

But they are definitely related, so by helping the one... I could help the other.

Given this kind of complex Reefer riddle, perhaps at this time of the year what we should do is

... just hold cyberhands and pray for a Christmas miracle! :santa:

C'mon Reef, we're all friends here, open up and receive brah, it's CHRISTMASTIME!!!

2018-19 season will see a major injection of top prospects between Vancouver and Utica - Lind (late birthday, can play in the AHL, Pettersen, Dahlen, Juolevi, both Gaudette and Lockwood have hinted at leaving college. May even see the Nucks do what they did with Brock, sign Gaudette at seasons end and give him a few games.

I see Pettersen and Juolevi full time with the Canucks next season and maybe Gaudette, he could really surprise. The goalie situation gets interesting, can't keep Demko down in the A forever. Lind like Lockwood will spend the season im the A. Goldy and Dahlen will bounce back n forth. I'm assuming Gadjovich and DiPietro return to junior

Do the Sedins come back???!

Good post, Dude. That last question is a biggy though, isn't it.
To be honest, I haven't got a clue but if I had to bet, I'd say yes.
But then for how much? 3 each, 4 each, 5 each? One or two years?
I'm sure they have made investments and have been responsible with their money, but:
You saw Danny's kids on his 1,000 night. Henry has a similar situation so how much is enough?
No matter what they do after retirement, it's probably not as much as they can make if keep playing.
All that college and university costs for all those kids. Got to play into their thinking now, one would assume.

I had this wild thought though. What were the words they used?
"We will retire as Canucks". Sound about right?

Have you ever seen or heard of a pro athlete signing some sort of one day contract or something along those lines just so he could retire with the team that meant everything to him, cause I think I have. ;)

I think its pretty well assured they come back year by year on 1 yr deals. They're slow as already but are playing at a ppg clip since Bo went down.

We dont actually have enough NHL ready depth to lose them if we plan on competing...which is obviously the plan

Yeah for all of Pettersens hype and a few others we may still need that Sedin veteran buffer for the transition. Too much to ask Horvat and Boeser to be the Sage's of the room.

Sutter, Eriksson and Gagner are anchored here for a few more years. Maybe soon Erik Gudbranson. Mentors and leaders one and all

How many times you figure Goldobin will clear waivers before someone snaps him up?

I say the Sedins stay to twinsition Peterson.

As awesome a season as Peterson is having, I don't see him close to anyone when he's scoring. It will be interesting to see him on the small ice at the WJC.
