But here’s a summary.
Within Jokkmokk you have 20 fast chargers. 4 at the ICA Supermarket, 6 at Ionity, 2 at Circle K, 2 at OK/Q8 and 6 run by Tesla right next to the OK/Q8 gas station. There are also a bunch of slower chargers if you are staying overnight.

To the North the nearest fast chargers would be 44 km away in Porjus.

To the East (or rather Southeast, the roads in Lappland tend to follow the river valleys) the nearest fast chargers would be 86 km away in Harads, but the Hotell in Voullerim (42 km away, so halfway to Harads) offers overnight charging at 3.7 kW. They have six chargers, so it is unlikely that all should be taken as I doubt that you would ever have more than six people visiting this godforsaken place in the middle of nowhere all at the same time.

To the South the nearest fast chargers would be 60 km away in Kåbdalis.

To the West (or rather Northwest) the nearest fast chargers would be 120 km away in Kvikkjokk, at road’s end.
Beyond Kvikkjokk there’s just mountains until you reach Sulitelma in Norway. Off road vehicles aren’t really allowed, so you’ll have to trek, or in the winter you could probably go by snowmobile. Or skis. But there are more convenient ways to reach Norway elsewhere.
In 2020 the official population of Kvikkjokk was 20 people. But they have 2 fast chargers at the tourist station!

Sweden is hardly a Utopia. But it’s pretty OK.
Still a lot of stuff that could be better.

Oh, and the EU has passed a regulation that along major roads there can not be more than 60 km between charging stations.
It is recent, so it has not been fully implemented everywhere yet, but there is really no need to worry about charging in Europe.

But as you may notice, in the case of Jokkmokk those criteria are only fulfilled going North or South. If you go sideways the distance exceeds the 60 km suggested by the new regulation. Yet considering how sparsely populated this area is I still think it’s pretty decent.

Well, 150 and up is purple in ChargeFinder. Rather than clicking each dot I just looked at colours. I’m lazy.

Also, it’s pretty fast for me. My car has an 82 kWh battery. Charging from 20% to 80% at 150 kW takes just under 20 minutes.
If I charge during a lunch my car will be in the 90’s or full when I get back, and even if it’s just a coffee and bathroom break, there’ll barely be any waiting. And my car can ”only” charge at a maximum of 175 kW, so the higher capacity doesn’t do much difference for me.

Sure, with a newer top level car a 350 charger might cut the charging time in half, but I’ve only had this car for a year so I’ll probably stick with it for a while. Either way, this only matters for longer road trips. Most of the time I charge over night at home. Cheaper and more convenient.

Btw, Jokkmokk is a Sami name. Jokk means river and mokk hill, so basically River Hill.
The Sami language is not Indoeuropean, so it’s completely different from Swedish, but does have similarities to Finnish.
They are not mutually intelligible though. Perhaps like English and French. You see that a lot of words are similar, but you don’t understand eachother unless you have learnt the other language.

The words for river and hill in Finnish would be joki and mäki, and if you combine it for a placename it would be Joenmäki.

I am dissapointed that "maki" means "hill", as I was using it quite a bit differently. "LIck her in the Hill" doesn't sound nearly as dirty. Now I want to know what a "Lekkeri" means so I can make infantile jokes about that too.

Mäki means hill. Maki is a type of sushi.
