Ex BC Liberal MLA Todd Stone is now running the BC Association of Mineral Exploration (AME).
Mineral explorers and developers have been influenced by the adoption of DRIPA for far longer than lower mainland home owners.
AME's official position is to amend, not delete, DRIPA. Their propsed amendments are outlined here

As someone who is very well acquainted with the industry, what is your take on the proposed am amendments, worthwhile or should it just be a full “delete” on DRIPA?Topper wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2026 11:53 am AME's official position is to amend, not delete, DRIPA. FN issues don't disappear with the removal of DRIPA. Eby caved when the FN's threatened civil disorder.
During the recent BC Conservative debate put on by the Vancouver Sun and co-hosted by Vaughn Palmer, he asked, "so what happens when you repeal DRIPA?"
While the candidates were admitting "5000 protesters on the steps of the Legislature" only one hinted at what happens in the field at work sites and even that was watered down to "why can't we go to work."
Recall the Wetsuetswen in Houston protesting the natural gas pipeline. They went to the camp, destroyed it with stolen heavy equipment, destroyed the machinery and attacked workers trying to flee the camp in pick up trucks. They also partially cut trees along the FSR so that the next windy day, the trees would drop across the road.
Look at the Fairey Creek protestors, chaining themselves to logs buried in the road as they huddle in dugouts carved into the road bed or to logs leaning over an abyss. They dared authorities to remove them without hurting them and when they did get hurt, they successfully sued.
Back in the day, a UBC classmate of mine was running a drill program at the mine adjacent to Strathcona Park when it became a centre of protest. he had a protestor climb the mast of the drill rig. He climbed up the mast to give the protestor a safety harness only to have the protestor drop his pants and piss on him while he climbed. He still climbed up and got the guy his harness. I don't think I'd react the same.
Quite frankly, we are looking at massive civil dis-rest, violence and looting. Much of it sponsored though foreign NGO's. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone killed. Circle the wagons.
In all reality, Section 35 of of the Canadian Constitution offers all the protections necessary and DRIPA never needed. It was folly that we will pay for.

Re: Only 99 days
I recall all too well the protest near Houston as it is more my neck of the woods. T'was fucking bullshit. I know a number of people who would have been very happy to have seen headlines describing a massacre of the protestors at the hands of workers whose lives had been endangered.
When did politicians and the general public stop giving a shit about basic law and order?
(That was rhetorical for you Topper, but hopefully 5th, and Per, can weigh in as our resident extreme leftists).
The FN treaties alone are the only reason I would not totally resent an authoritarian regime coming to power in Canada - if it tore up everything and told them to either join up with the nation as equals in share and responsibility or deal with the criminal consequences of living outside the law.
(I say that half-heartedly).
I have to remember though, don't hate the player, hate the game.

74% of the members of the BC Business Council plan to scale back investment in BC.
https://www.biv.com/news/commentary/rob ... s-12243298The majority cite increased time, cost, complexity or uncertainty in permitting caused by the court rulings, policy flips and changing landscape around the NDP’s DRIPA. As many as one-third said they plan to reduce hiring.

Eby wanted to show the paper on the new Culture legislation to BC Municipalities and several affected industry groups
Since the paper was written a couple of days after the public submissions window closed it was evident the paper was already written before the submissions had been read. All refused to sign the NDA to see it.
The paper had been prepared in secret consultation with indigenous groups. The indigenous groups signed the NDA.
Yet another Eby backroom negotiation.
He's lost the public though

This is the part of repealing DRIPA that only Peter Milobar will mention
https://x.com/bruce_mcgonigal/status/20 ... 27977?s=20
All others talk of protesters on the lawn of the legislature.
Amending DRIPA is necessary, but the consequences will from radicals will not be easy to stand up to.

More dirt being dug up on Elliot supporting Dr Bonny to rile the hardline conservatives.
Mysterious accusations against Findley from her Fed campaign, end of the day, Elections Canada won't give out any info so so Findley stays on the ballot. In the meantime lots of dirt on anonymous sources filing complaint to Elections Canada who may or may not be affiliated with Elliot.
Pick of Milobar wearing an orange shirt back in the 215 days has surfaced.
Voting starts tomorrow and things have been getting nasty
