I agree unfortunately. (Not unfortunate that we agree, unfortunate that this appears to be fact)

Hey look on the bright side... at least they don't have to waste rendered dinosaur juice on chin straps for Meaty

The Canucks have had plenty of bad seasons in their 56-year history, but they’ve never actually finished dead-last before. They’ve also never picked first overall in the draft.

Canucks fans are hoping that changes in June.

He (Mancini) seems to be a big upgrade on Juulsen, our previous 7/8 Dman. I think he will settle in as a solid 3rd pairing guy. If he can turn into a shut down kinda player, he will have a long career.

I don't see Mancini as a shut down guy. If you break down the position by its component parts, he seems to have the potential to tick every box reasonably well and yet be the master of none. If that reasonably well stuff is on the upper end of the range, then you are looking at a 4-5 profile. (If you don't need the qualifier "reasonably," its a 2-3 guy). But if you are closer to "pretty well" then you aren't in the league every day. Because there's a value to guys in the bottom set who do a thing particularly well. For example, if Mancini was individually the same in overall effectiveness on a shift-by-shift basis as EP25, you are picking EP25 every time (if handedness was no issue) because there's a "master" value to having the guy who gets under the skin of the opposition (taking them off their game) and makes them play with their head up. EP25 has as many flaws as Mancini, but these attributes will help him keep a spot in the league.

Reminds me of Hedican in that he has a lot of tools, but didn’t put it all together in Vancouver and got a lot of criticism.
I remember he always got criticized in Vancouver for not having a tool box.
On other clubs he developed into a very effective defensemen.
I think Mancini will have a long NHL career, but maybe not in Vancouver.

Rossi vs Scooter would be epic.

I'm still hoping to see that Miller/Scooter dream match in the regular season someday.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

Today's word, get Buium signed to an extension in the off season. Chatter has begun about the Canucks off season business and one of the priorities is to get the young DMan extended to an 8 year deal. They can do so up until mid Sept when the new CBA rules kick in. After that the max he can get is a 7 year deal.

Money being bantered about is in the 8-9 million range. Does he prefer to go the shorter term of 5 years hoping his stock goes up? Or is he willing to take the big deal now, being 28-29 when his next contract would be due, still in his prime?

My thoughts, lock him up now if you can for 8-9 million.

9 million will be a steal in 3 years where the cap is 125m....

Would you give him 11.6? Or do you prefer a 5 year deal? Or a 3 year bridge deal?

If they are locking him up for 8 years, anything under 9 million will look like a steal when the cap is 125million.
(Sorry, I should have been more clear)

That is a lot of potential to be paying for on that sort of term.

He’s currently on our 3rd pairing.

I’d definitely consider a 2-3 year bridge for him.

Why would he want to sell his UFA years?

At the current salary trend, these higher level kids have made a decent life for themselves at the end of their RFA years and once into UFA it's silly money. With the uncertainty in Vancouver why set anchor when you may want to set sail.
