Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

I think Cootes has a better chance than most to stay past nine because no one expects him to be a big scorer. He can focus on defence, face offs and skate faster than most. If he plays this season as a slightly more skilled Blueger this season, the Canucks should be overjoyed. He already looks way ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

No one put on waivers today by the Canucks. I believe someone said players had to be placed on waivers today if they were to be off the roster to meet tomorrow’s roster number. So it looks like Bains, Karlsson, Joseph will be on the roster. It’ll be the non-waiver players being juggled. That seem log ...

Re: Canucks Pre-Season Games (Semi-GDT thing)

D-Petey, Willander, Sasson and anyone else that doesn’t need to clear waivers should be chosen from and sent to Abby to get down to their 23. Keep their depth over icing the best players on day one. Mancini has outplayed D-Petey and Willander so give him his props even though in the long term I t ...

Re: 2025-26 Prediction Thread

The reason the Canucks will be good this season is they can kill penalties. Their defence isn’t the crap it was at the start of last season. That will be the difference this year, and why they’re a lock to win the Pacific - Book it!

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

A player of Hirose’s size and lack of offence, didn’t have much of an NHL future. That being said, he was excellent in the Abbotsford Canucks championship run. Good on him for keeping his pro-career going in Germany. I think McWard still might have an NHL future with the Islanders. He was behind a bu ...

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

So Jackson Blake’s deferred money saves Carolina $525,000 on their cap space. Frank Vatrano’s deferral saves the Ducks 1.43m a year. Seth Jarvis saves Carolina $480,000. Deferrals get eliminated in the next collective agreement, but the Canucks will be trying to re-sign Hughes before that kicks in. I ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

IMO Mancini needs to cook a bit more in Abby to develop consistency and more physical play. Willander will be a top four before long, but should start in Abby. I expect if everyone stays healthy, it will be a process over the season to get the defence set with everyone in their correct place the ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Their grit is different. Karlsson is more the stinky mitt face rub, cheap stick between the nut sack from behind kind of infuriating player. Joshua is more the, “Why I oughta” and on the rare occasion he backs it up. But most of Joshua’s scoring success ran through Garland. Perhaps if Karlsson plays ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Basically, it will be Karlsson replacing Joshua. Karlsson plays naturally grittier than Joshua, but probably won’t fight. I don’t know if Karlsson can play as well as Joshua did two years ago, but I don’t know if Joshua can play as well as he did that season again either. They’ve spent most of their ...
