His trade value might be the at peak value right now even. It wouldn't surprise me if Mr Burns and Smithers use him in a trade
He's 23. Goalies seldom peak before 26.
I'd use him as a cheap backup, have more money to spend elsewhere.

Re: Past Canuck Players

Looks like OEL will finally get his cup. Won't make the triple gold club though. He has two world championship golds, but only an Olympic silver. His generation has been robbed by the NHL pulling out of both the 2018 and 2022 Olympic tournaments. :( I doubt he makes the cut for Sweden's 2026 Olympic...

Yeah, I noticed that in Brazil. Seems girls get a bikini when they're 10 years old, and then they have to use that same bikini till they turn 30 or 40.

Re: 4 Nations Face-off 2025

If it is a one off tournament used as prep for the Olympics I can get behind it. But as an annual thing well I dont want Canucks playing in the tournament. Too much at stake as it backs onto the final push of the season. Players are spent to start the playoffs they dont really need this. I loved th...

Re: 4 Nations Face-off 2025

This is fucking stupid. Do it in the off-season, not in the middle of the regular season. I wonder how pissed off owners, GM's, coaches, and fans, will be if one of the best players from their NHL team gets hurt competing in this dog and pony show.....because you can sure as shit bet that an All-St...

Re: 4 Nations Face-off 2025

Czech are likely thrilled after winning the most recent WHC. Agreed. But the tournament is only open for NHL players, and only 26 Czech skaters and 7 goalies played in the NHL last year, I toyed with the idea of a Czechoslovakian team, as there were also 11 Slovak skaters, so that would give them a...

4 Nations Face-off 2025

The fog is lifting and the basic elements of the Mini World-Cup that will be held next winter as a pre-cursor to the 2026 Olympic tournament (with all the best players) have been announced. This tournament will replace the All Star Weekend in 2025, which I consider a brilliant idea and I hope will b...

Re: Old World Politics - rising from the ashes

What’s amazing to me is that people are surprised by this. Not sure who is surprised? The right wing surge was expected. Well, except for the massive shift in France. I mean, Macron won the last French elections, but now the National Front (or I guess they call themselves the National Rally now, bu...

Re: Old World Politics - rising from the ashes

This video gives a decent overview of the political stances of the different groupings in the European Parliament.
Once again he starts talking about sponsors, but just skip from the 4.30 to the 6.00 mark and you should be fine.

Old World Politics - rising from the ashes

The old thread doesn't work, so here's a new try. EU parliamentary elections were held this weekend. There was suggestions that they might lead to a major shift to the right, and this actually occurred in especially France, but also Germany and Italy. But the picture varied a lot over the continent....

Re: Another one bites the dust

Dr Michael Mosley, 67, famous from several British tv shows and for launching the 5:2 diet. Probably from heat stroke or a heart attack when going for a walk in scorching 40 C heat on the Island of Symi in Greece. Mad dogs and Englishmen. 40 C in early June. Should we consider him a victim of climat...

Re: We're All Doomed!™ (the Conquest, War, Famine, and Death Thread)

the response was very adhoc in an effort to avoid the Italian outcome. I don't pay much attention to these things, but I understood the Italian outcome was originally grossly overstated. Yes and no. Italy was the first European country hit by covid, and at first they did not know what hit them. The...
