Re: The Petey Predicament

While the sentiments regarding a wished for outcome are a bit strong in the dark side of the force.....I think Matheson's hit is the quintessential example of why some of us have never been a fan of this guy. I have NEVER seen a player get rag doll tossed like that before. He was borderline KO'd ...

Re: What We've Got (Looking Ahead With Current Contracts)

And I am not at all interested in favor of adding a sweetner to move Petey. It doesn’t fit “every move is to increase the chance you develop another core player.” Make a deal when you get a how-Benning-viewed-OEL, heck, how-Darche-viewed-Schenn, how-Yzerman-viewed-Faulk. It only takes one GM (though ...

Re: What We've Got (Looking Ahead With Current Contracts)

UW, you have described the Miller/Scooter scenario. Do we get a second act? My experience working and living in close quarters with deadbeats is they become more marginalized and isolated as the issue persists. What starts as practical jokes, become more pointed an vicious. Constructive criticism ...

Re: What We've Got (Looking Ahead With Current Contracts)

The pickle I think the team is in moving forward is that it will be exceedingly hard for that dressing room to move forward with that pathetic Eeyore in the room. [etc.] Let's say your description of EP40 is right -- I don't think its hard at all for hungry players to advance because they have a ...

Re: What We've Got (Looking Ahead With Current Contracts)

My somewhat idiosyncratic view is that championship competitive teams have a limited set of core players that you build around. What you need to build around them depends somewhat on what they are. Individual Complementary players don’t really matter so much until they have something to complement. ...

Re: What We've Got (Looking Ahead With Current Contracts)

Years ago I drove by a colleague’s house and noticed it was for sale. “Where are you moving?” “I’m not.” “Oh, I thought I saw your house was for sale.” “It is. Every spring I put in on the market for way more than it’s worth. If I get what I’m asking, I’ll move.”

Strange.

That guy just came up in a conversation I had with a friend, "people you think are dead but aren't."

Pioneer, big thinker and doer, Ted Turner. Like him or not, an impressive life.

Re: Draft Lottery Destiny

During the day yesterday, I sent a text to my fantasy hockey group (who were soliciting predictions) and I said, "It will be Toronto. And if I am wrong, its the Rangers. But I'm not wrong." I wish I had posted that prediction here. Of course, I sent this because conspiracies are fun. And you know ...

Re: Draft Lottery Destiny

(Seriously, though, if the Canucks want the Swede, I think there’s a good chance he’s available @ 3. Sharks might opt for a D). Or... New Canucks' management can get creative. If we select a D, then Hronek/Willander could/would look mighty attractive to SJ. They should pick Stenberg as he would be a ...

McKenna to Vancouver!

Bitches Brew Exile on Main Street London Calling Pet Sounds A Love Supreme Rubber Soul Good list. Rubber Soul is probably my favorite Beatles record if I could get rid of four songs. God Only Knows is a top 10 track of all time (in spite of the sleigh bells). Unfortunately, we weren't a Beach Boys ...

OK Computer Joshua Tree The Soul Cages Abbey Road Rumors In Rainbows 6 records I liked on the first listen, liked more with subsequent listens, never grew tired of, have a “timeless” quality, and — this was sort of my deadlock criteria — are the best when listening to the whole record start to end in ...
