Draft Lottery Destiny

You know the Canucks will lose.
The big question is which Sedin looks saddest?
Brave quivering upper lip?
Sobbing on the floor?
Misty eyes?
Clenched jaw?
Disgust with every aspect of the organization your lot in life is attached to?
I’m just glad they are not alone and can console each other.

My gut says the Canucks drop to 2nd, heart says 1st. For some reason I don’t think they fall to 3rd.

I won't be upset if the Flames don't get McKenna. I'm hoping they get Malhotra or Stenberg with their first pick. I think either of these two will have a greater impact on the Flames success going forward, than if they draft McKenna.
Anyway, this is the Stanley cup equivalent for the Canucks and Flames.

If the Canucks drop to 2nd the Sedins will be ecstatic.
They were drafted 2nd (and 3rd).
Also, it will almost certainly mean McKenna is off the board and the Canucks will take the Swede.
Sedins will be thrilled.
Stenberg will be all excited to be welcomed into the Canucks fold by a pair of Swedish legends.
It’s a win for everyone…..except most of the fans.

Stenberg looks to be the real deal. While I would take McKenna over him, he is the real deal deal too.

Agreed on both - hoping we get 1st. Would be OK to get 2nd. 3rd will be crapshoot.

Yes, but also the lack of consensus could mean opportunity. If there are 6 players there who seem like top of the lineup players but not superstars, then why not trade down (within reason)? Get creative. Get 2027 picks.

At least it will be grist for the mill in Vancouver if they pick 3rd. The first two picks are gimmes - McKenna or Stenberg in either order. Who among Malhotra and the sea of Dmen - would it really surprise if they pickled Bjorck there?? - will end up 3rd? The field is apparently pretty wide.

Very true - we only have to look back to the 2017 draft as one that was turned upside down, and the top picks weren't even close to being the best available players.
I just hope we don't end up with a Nolan Patrick type, and neither McKenna, nor Stenburg seem like they will bust. The rest? Only Doc knows.

Been going through past drafts just to get a vibe on things as we approach our fate. One thing that stood out was the 2019 draft as I remember back then how J.Hughes and Kakko were the consensus 1/2, and there was even some talk of Kakko legitimately going 1.
Sound familiar? It is eerily similar even with the player profiles.
The other thing that stood out is how the Rangers went 2nd OA and 1st OA in back to back years only to end up with a couple of average NHLers. That scenario scares the shit outta me as we're all but certain to go top 3 again next year. What a fucking nightmare it would be to go through a couple years like last year and get virtually nothing out of it.
Needless to say, so much rides on lottery balls and/or nailing the selections.

I never run the simulator but every talk show does and I swear the last 20 or so consecutive have us 3rd.
I thought our odds are 25.5% to win.
