Tanking

It fucking disgusts me. Absolute bullshit disrespect for the organization, player, fans, league and the sport.
In Vancouver's case, management is actively encouraging fans to embrace it and the like the blind sheep fans are, it's warm fuzzy hugs and wet sloppy kisses to tanking. Again in the case of Vancouver, it is managements way of covering up their disastrous handling of the team since being anointed, fans are swallowing that line. But keep a happening those nice warm handjobs the Geriatric and RoboSwede love so much.
Meanwhile the NBA just fined two teams, the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers for sitting star players in a effort to tank. League commissioner is threatening more action and is open to removing draft picks from teams.

Best lottery odds should go to the 17th placed team. Worst to the 32nd. Problem solved.

That's what the paper bags are for!

If you change the word "tanking" for the word "losing" you'll feel better.
Van isn't tanking.
They are losing.
They are a terrible team, with subpar goaltending, coaching and zero centre ice depth.
As you say, Mgmt. is just using semantics for this incompetency.
Have a bran muffin, this shit too will pass.

By jove I think you've solved it!
Or have a second tier league like the SEK( but who would pay big dollars to go watch the loser league?)
Every single team that hold the best players in the league spent time on the bottom. Anyone who found gold with a middle round pick would be an outlier so even though it's nauseating, it's necessary to obtain the best talent (nevermind the Quinn Hughes trade

)

Deliberate tanking can be hard to prove. We all know it happens and has happened for generations. Every now and then a generational player comes along and there is always a fight for the bottom. Edmonton got away with it causing draft rule changes. Pittsburgh got away with it several times.
Our problem is we can’t do it right or in the right year. Celebrini was hoping for a Vancouver tank so he could play in Vancouver. Even when a draftee is begging for it we screw up.
With our luck Bettman will come out with something like the Luongo rule to punish us if we get 1OA.
Watching the men’s Olympics makes me realize how bad of a product most of the NHL is. Maybe we need a tier system. Top 16 play in tier one. The rest fight it out upward relegation. What a concept.

Perverse incentives. The leagues reward their biggest losers and then rattle their sabers when franchises break kayfabe.

I like the relegation concept. Makes for some exciting games at the bottom end of the table.
But this thread is about Topper grumbling that management will never be held accountable.

He's right. They need to be launched into the sun before they fuck up the draft as well.

I am fine with the Canucks tanking this and next year but I also want to see them make smart long term roster moves. Problem is, I like most of you, have no faith on this management group or ownership.

Not sure they're tanking in reality.
The owners are shit.
The team is chasms below NHL legit.
Management have no plan nor theory beyond vacuous dribble and appear to have thrown arms in the air with respect to authentic leadership and quit.

I wonder if Topper would be happy with the team tanking under new management of which he approves.
Or does he despise management and tanking equally.

I think it is clear they have no plan. It will be interesting to see what moves they make after the Olympics.
