Is there a "Doctor" in the house?

As some of you have noticed, long-time poster Strangelove hasn't been around for a few months.
Some of us have known for a while that Doc has been dealing with some very serious health issues since at least April. He kept us updated, but he hasn't logged on since July 26, and we haven't had any messages or emails returned.
Rats and I have been waiting and hoping to hear some news, but at this point, we have to assume that Doc is no longer with us.
Among his last messages: "
I know that God still does miracles, and I know I am heaven bound." and "
I almost feel bad for picturing those sweet young nurses naked."
I hope to hell that he comes back to give me shit and announces, "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated", but sadly, I'm not holding my breath.
We are going to dedicate this season at the Corner to Doc, and will be re-naming the GDT forum in his memory.
Many of you have known Doc for decades, and it would be fun to hear some memories of his posts and comments.

Jesus, that awful. All the best to his family, as I, like you, am assuming the worst.

Ah man - that is terrible, hope Doc's family is coping OK. Though the optimist in me hopes he'll jump back on board when Van hits their first 10 game winning streak.

I have known Doc for 25 plus years through Canuck talk sites.
I consider him a friend and was both flabbergasted and heart-broken when he told me of his issues.
Rats and I for several weeks have been speaking of and searching for evidence of occurrence and ways to track him down to no avail.
I too presume the worst.
All the best to his wife, children and extended family.
My father went through similar health issues, I am well aware of the drain.
He was well loved and respected.
As the season progresses and happier times ensue some Doc stories via this thread should be shared as Corn suggests.

It hit me like a ton of bricks when he told me what he was going through, though I could tell he wasn't operating at full capacity for a little while prior.
This will always be his place.
My heart goes out to his family.

This is terrible news. I've known him for 25+ years and have no words that can convey how hard this hits
Til we meet in Valhalla my old friend
His last pm to me:
BTW, you didn't respond to my PM so I'm gonna hafta haunt your ass...
I can definitely see him haunting me!

Shit! Not the news I wanted to hear. I was gonna comment today asking where he was as it's extremely strange (see wot) to have preseason discussions without him. I was hoping he was just on a long holiday and I guess he is
So long Doc. Nobody will ever take your place.

I thought he was just taking some off dealing with some issues but never once thought it was that serious.
Didn't agree with some of his stuff but he knew the collective agreement very well and always offered good insight into that.
Wish his family all the best dealing with this.

Awful news.
I had no idea he was having health issues. Hoping for the best for him

Since Doc loved his assholes, and us mods also have a twisted sense of humour, we have created "Doc's Dream Team" for the hockey pool this year.
Of course, it has all the leaves we could add and other assorted players he would have picked.
If this doesn't bring him back, nothing will.

There is no other Strangelove. If the worst has happened, he is looking down on this convex earth, nodding, "I told you so."
If his family finds this, know that Strangelove brought a lot of wit to this board (and the other many of us used to post on), and a lot laughter to those of us who got what he was all about. His hockey talk contributions were fine, but it was his personality that shined. Our friendship with him may not have been in real life, but the loss is not any less real.
Strangelove. The Lost Avenger. There will be no other.

I'd say we hang his jersey from the rafters, but he'd be mad if we lowered our standards.
