World Under 18’s 2025

Post by Chef Boi RD »

Ain’t no love for the World Under 18’s? Canada takes gold 2nd year in a row. They whooped Sweden’s ass in the gold medal game 7-0. Some impressive Canadian players at the tourney who will feature around where the Canucks will be picking - Martin, Kindel, Cootes, Reschny, Nesbitt. I’d add Jackson Smith but he will go top 10. Keaton Verhoeff will go top 3 in 2026, what a beast thar kid is. Another kid from the 2026 class - Roobroeck was impressive as well. What’s even more impressive was Canada was missing the likes of - Mckenna, Martone, Schaefer, Misa, Desnoyers, DuPont, O’Brien, McQueen, Preston to name a few.

Ivankovic (goalie) and Martin were named to the tournament all-star game. Oddly enough, Ivankovic is commonly ranked to go 2nd round while Canada’s other goalie Ravensbergen is expected to go in the first round. I think because Ravensbergen is 6’-5” while Ivankovic is 6’-0”. It seems the scouts like size in the nets. But it sure is nice to finally see some good Canadian goaltending coming up. It’s been Death Valley in that department for awhile.

Martin is currently ranked 12th on Bob McKenzie’s most recent list, which is probably the most legit list out there as the list is based on discussions with legit NHL scouts and their lists. Martin is a C/LW listed at 6’-0” 180 lbs. He scored 33 goals for 72 points in 57 games with S.S. Marie this year. Heading into the draft at 6-0” 180 lbs probably puts him at 6-0’ to 6’-1” - 190 lbs when fully matured

Martin’s scouting report - His best attributes are he is an energy player, relentless forechecker and has a great shot.
