Is Scooter is ready for the grind of a full season plus playoffs this time around?

Will Demko be out for very long?

Will Huggy perform despite the extra attention and physicality?

Will Joshua find another gear in the post-season.

We still are not very experienced.

Western Final at best. Probably another solid playoffs.

Solid playoffs but fall short

Not enough horses, still to thin at the mid to top area of the lineup on D and at forward.

Several career years and over achievement last campaign suggests a regression this season.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Possibly, but (1) I'd rather have some guys who've had the success of overperformance than the cloud of question marks; (2) there are a few players with more room to grow; (3) there are some negative/minimal contributors are gone, and (4) there is a general weakening of the division. At the top of the bunch, the Oilers don't look as good to me on paper (that defense....), the Knights are missing parts in their forward group and it looks like its a roster that would be way better 3 years ago, and the Kings could go any which way -- I could see them anywhere from 88-105 points. They have some potential to improve from within, but they have some Father Time exposure as well. As for the also rans, only Seattle has some potential to fight for a playoff spot -- can a team of seemingly interchangeable depth without any scary high end talent (unless Beniers busts out) compete? Calgary, Anaheim, and San Jose should all be pretty awful -- though at least there should be some really interesting new talent to watch in California.

Keys for the seasons will be health and a decent jump out of the gate. As for the former, the Canucks organizational depth leaves something to be desired (though I like the starting 20). Long term injuries to any center or to either of the top pairing D would be extremely tough to absorb. As for the jump, the I don't know if I want to test whether last season made the Canucks a more resilient group.

Weird that Petterson has so many haters in this city.

I say 102 points. 2nd in the Division. Out in the 2nd round again. Still lacking a few elements but a solid year nonetheless.

Big decision coming with Brock. He loves it here. But do you commit 8X 8 for him? He's slow now. They've hitched their wagon to Peter,,JT and Hronek. Quinn will get 14-15 in three years. Enjoy him now. If not for the need to sign Tanner Pearson, they could have likely gotten "Scooter Boy" and Hugh's on 8 year deals covering most of their peak.

I suspect that next season (25-26) will be very informative regarding what GM's do in terms of these massive contracts for superstars. Edmonton is in a bind with Draisaitl's deal kicking in that year, and while the cap is going up, $6M of their new space is already going to him. McDavid will then likely be commanding $17M.....he may take less the way Crosby has over his career, if he doesn't, the Oilers will be spending $31M for 7 years until their big horses are 37 years old. We may start to see a shift at this point as hockey is definitely not basketball where 2 superstars can get you a title if they are healthy.

If Pettersson doesn't show something huge this year, or if he wilts in the playoffs (assuming we get there), shrewd management would be to unload that contract before July 1st. If he has mentally matured and can carry the load putting up 100-110 points, then we have a bargain on our hands in 2 years time.....I really hope so, but don't see it.

8 years would be tough. If they could somehow get him more in the 6 year range I'd be much more up for it. I know some already have him penciled off the team next year but losing him while we are pushing in to our window years could really be a big deal to the team chemistry.

and yes he's slow, but he's always been slow. He's not a guy who relied on speed to be good and is now losing that.. I'm not crazy concerned about it.

If they could get him on a 6 year deal that would be ideal. But not over 7 M. I'd be using Miller as the bar for forwards moving forward.

Travis Konecny, drafted same draft year as Brock Boeser, drafted with next pick after Boeser…just signed an 8 year contract at 8.75 million per year ($70 million contract), a winger as well and is two weeks younger than Boeser. Konecny is 5’-10” 192 lbs while Brock is 6’-1” 208 lbs. Their career numbers:

Boeser - 479 games - 179 goals - 205 assists - 384 points
Konecny - 564 games - 174 goals - 226 assists - 400 points

Konecny has played 85 more games than Brock, a season’s worth

This is the comparable, and a fair one. Chef has absolutely no problem signing Brock to 8 years at $8 million per year, he will get that range. The cat loves Vancouver and Vancouver loves him…getterdun…getterdun FFS!
