He's probably going for a third term. The Constitution only says that he can't be
elected to the office of President for more than two terms. But he can
hold that office as long as he wants. So he'll run as VP and whoever runs for president will just step aside. Or he can be elected Speaker, and then both the President and VP step aside.
The VP route is probably not available. You cannot run for VP if you are not eligible to run for president.
This seems to be overlooked by a lot of people right now.
Since the term constraint means that he is not eligible to run for president, he should be automatically barred fom running as VP as well.
Speaker of the house is probably a viable road though. I have not heard that there is any similar restrictions on that.
But than both the presidential and the VP candidate must be in on it and basically run their campaign on this premise.
Wouldn't that leave a majority of American voters disgusted and pissed off?

If Trump is popular enough with the voters, and still has a firm grip on the GOP, then there's no reason this couldn't happen.

While statements appear else wise, there is plenty of online noise that Canada, Mexico, India, and others have offered to drop tariffs if the US agrees to drop theirs.
It seems Ontario's Doug Ford has made the one official comment. It is along the lines of what Alberta's Smith has been saying all along.
I say drop the tariffs, not to get into a pissing match where no one wins, let Americans see their price increases that Trump can not blame on foreign entities. Don't give him a scapegoat.

I Agree. Also, adding tariffs here doesn't really have much of an effect on the USA. It just raises our costs, and increases the tax revenue of Ottawa.
Plus, we seem to forget that we have a bunch of tariffs of our own on American products. Drywall comes to mind. The feds added a 105% to 276% tariff on American drywall back in 2016. The claim was the USA is dumping drywall into Canada. But the reality is Canada just never invested in upgrading our drywall plants so our costs of production are too high.

I agree as well. It doesn't make sense for us to argue that Trump's tariffs are self-defeating and will hurt the US, and then go ahead and impose our own tariffs. It's hypocritical.

Amongst the rambling, no word on Canada/Mexico. Talk of our evils (dairy, hints at defense) but nothing else.
Foreign made cars 25% but no word on how USMCA affects that, he mentioned Europe, Japan, Korea
Country by country list of recipricol tariffs with a blanket base level of 10%, but again, no mention of Canada/Mexico USMCA.
Other wise just grandiose rambling.

Don't forget the Heard and McDonald Islands! Fuck those penguins!!
One of the sheets claims that the Heard and McDonald Islands currently charge a “Tariff to the U.S.A.” of 10 percent, clarifying in tiny letters that this includes "currency manipulation and trade barriers." In return, the sheet says that the US will charge "discounted reciprocal tariffs" on the islands at a rate of 10 percent.
It will be interesting to see how the House votes on this.
A group of Republican senators voted along with Democrats on Wednesday for a resolution to undo President Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on Canadian imports, dealing an embarrassing blow to Trump.

Did you hear about the fifty percent tariffs against Lesotho? Lesotho!
I kid you not.
Also 44 percent tariffs against Myanmar, which is recovering from a devastating earthquake. That's quite a gesture eh.

Here's the formula Trump used to set the tariff rate:
The U.S. trade deficit with that country, divided by the value of that country’s exports to the U.S.
Trump then cut that number in half, saying he was being “kind.”
Yeah they're just making it up as they go. Futures market is as red as it ever gets.

Interesting choice; countries sorted by length of name, shortest to longest.
Don't think I've seen that before, but sure, it does look aesthetically pleasing.
Most people would sort alphabethically or by tariff percentage, but whoever did this is truly thinking outside the box!
It's not even by number of letters, they're taking font into the calculation, so while Brazil and Israel have 6 letters and China and Japan only five, the i:s and l:s make the names of the former two more slender and thus shorter in length and brings them up the list.
This is truly inspirational!
