That should open up some cap space to pick up EP40 for their run

So we're bringing Pittsburgh in on this trade now? Because that's where you'll find Matt Dumba.

My reply is irrelevant anyhow, I was thinking Benn was still on his previous contract. I forgot he signed a short-term deal for $1M.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun Jan 04, 2026 1:29 pmThat was a pretty bad smack. Well maybe you're onto something. It likely that we would need a third team to move around the cap hits to make something work without retaining too much on Pettersson.

Yeah...so Dumba aside....Lancer is right...Dallas has limited cap space from what I can see....
Don't see the Stars as an EP fit.
Now Carolina.
Or Winnipeg.
....both of whom are looking at adding offense on contract allegedly.

It's funny how one loss changes things. The Flames were one point out of a WC spot before last night's game against Nashville. With the loss, they are 4th from the bottom again. I wish they would trade a few Vets (Andersson, Kadri and Coleman), sooner than later, so they will fully embrace the tank.

Car, Det and Ana would be the best fit for Pettersson, methinks. With the ladder the only likely destination he’d agree to wave to.
Dallas made their big ticket acquisition last year with Rant. Also, Robertson and Harley are due for huge raises this summer.

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Short of doing a huge retention (minimum of 25%) I think the ship has sailed regarding trading EP 40.
Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Harley has been re-upped BoS.
8 years 84 sheets and change....
Also....not 100% sure he wouldn't waive for Carolina.
If his agent has any sales pull it's actually a great spot for him and low on the media stress......

As an aside...how is Hunter B doing in the system for you guys? Any sign of making the jump soon?

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Dallas could be in play if the deal had the Canucks retain for the balance of this season and next (not sure if that's allowed). Seguin comes off the cap at the end of 2026-27, that will free up a shade under $10M.

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
Then trade him for Seguin, then immediately trade Seguin back to Dallas and retain on Seguin.
