Garland didn’t actually give a ringing endorsement of staying. Beyond his control, if the situation of a trade arises he will have some thinking to do. The typical he loves Vancouver and loves playing here but things happen. Not anxious over all these rumours and will deal with whatever happens.
The only HW the Canucks need

Have we even hit bottom yet?Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 9:42 pm Wow, that's ten straight losses to tie the franchise record. This is historic awfulness.
It's all about the lowered expectations

This has got to be the worst experience of his hockey career. I can't begin to imagine how bad it must suck.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:26 pm Garland didn’t actually give a ringing endorsement of staying. Hughes, Tocchet, Miller, and Horvat are all a bunch of quitters

Ya he said he detests losing so I imagine this is taking a toll. But he said the right things. You have to play hard, practice hard etc. Said that with all the young players they have to find out how hard it is to play in this league.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:48 pmThis has got to be the worst experience of his hockey career. But he had many losing seasons in Arizona so maybe he is used to all the losing??
I think losing Hughes really affected him personally. He said his next goal is a Stanley Cup so perhaps he does want out. If only he can hold on until July first and then control the destination.

All I can say is this is exactly what we need to happen.
Enduring the on ice futility is the bridge we have never been able to cross to get to where we need to go. They always seem to pull some bullshit short term solution out of the ether (like a coaching change or trade) that short circuits the required pain and suffering needed to acquire top end talent.
We need at least 3 years of this shit to build up enough to turn the corner. Forget the names of each and every one of the assets dressing for the team right now (except for the 2 that are 20)....they're all tokens we need to bring back future assets and picks.

What Megs said in another thread about loving the tank because it's making the owner eat a shit sandwich with every loss.....
That's what is needed so that he changes course. Either by selling the team (preferably) or by actually hiring a competent hockey ops front office and then butting the fuck out.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
