If this mid round pick indeed happens I'm starting a blame thread....
And I'll fully accept this. I've seen this happen so much with this team that I refuse to get my hopes up. First overall draft pick? In a great year? Yeah... Ok..... Let's get that McKenna uniform going now! :D

I can see us getting in around 8-10 if all goes well.

Its come to complete lack of hope from a 3rd round post season potential in pre start prognostications.

Chef Boi RD wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 6:32 am I find it amusing staring at the overall standings seeing the Canucks in dead last of the league, yet Rutherford cries “we are not rebuilding! We are going to stay competitive!”

Last place with one of the leagues worst prospect pools, as seen in recent rankings.

Yeah, Rutherford…you’re doing a real bang up job at that. Love the plan - The No Plan, Plan.
I thought you would be happy. YOU want the tank, well, its happening without any help from management, and you still want to bitch and complain.

Your winning. rejoice in your moment!!! savior your victory!!
Madcomb, you’re hangry, did you not get your porridge this morning?

“Stay competitive, my friend”
No angry. Just can’t fathom how after you’re getting what you want in a tank, you can still stir the shitpot by saying it’s not good enough. We are in last. What more do you want?
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.

Trading declining assets in exchange for more darts for the draft dartboad.

With a couple of (expected to be) deep drafts upcoming, and some promising young players -- with more in the pipeline -- one could imagine a Canucks franchise ready to compete in the '28-'29 season. That might be enough to sell Hughes on sticking around to lead that. Or if it isn't, he should be worth a whole lot of early darts.

Ryan Roobroek may warrant consideration in the top-5. Big kid, really good shot, good offensive skills... and a centre. ;)

Bit of a toss-up between him and Belchetz.

So are Lawrence & Roobroek the only top 10 rated centers in the draft?

Gavin McKenna: "There's a lot of chatter on my year but it's a growth year. I'm playing harder guys. I could have stayed in the Dub & put up a bunch of points but I wanted to challenge myself & I've been getting challenged"

It’s in my personal opinion that his move to the NCAA will be a blessing in disguise. Although he has struggled at times, he will benefit from the experience, maturing physically and mentally much quicker to the pro game than if he had stayed in the dub.

Less gruelling than the dub too. They play like 1-2 games a week max. They practice and develop better with more recovery time I think. The CHL whores out these kids for 80+ games plus a 2-3 month playoff format like the NHL. That's just too much travel and wears guys down

This will change as it always does, the WJC will cement the likes of McKenna, Stenberg and Verhoeff where they will end up, the mystery will remain on the rest. If Lawrence continues with his good play, he’ll remain in the top 5. Belchetz based on size, skating and hands and grit will be tough to pass in the top 5. The top 4 is pretty set in my opinion with McKenna, Lawrence, Stenberg and Verhoeff.

Yeah the Dub is a shitty deal for the kids. The level of exploitation is ridiculous.

Looks like 1OA is up in the air and McKenna isn’t a lock. Lots of different opinions.
