That's not Subban?
You could be forgiven for being confused.
...or did that come out sounding racist???

Naw, if you're gonna entertain Letang fantasies you're gonna hafta give em Edler.
Makes more sense for BOTH teams.

Yup.
Anyone see these shenanigans? yes it's 'nhlsourcessay' but
"@NHLSourcesSay
Letang offers
Ducks =Ryan, 1st rnd pick, Etem.
Flames =Cammalleri, 1st rnd pick, Bartschi
Canucks =Edler, 1st rnd pick, Schroeder"
lol most I'd offer is Edler + Schroeder.

Lets hope if this is true he goes to the Ducks! I don't want an 8m x 8 year Letang.

Ditto.
With the Pens defensive philosophy of solving it with more goals... they would be salivating at Bobby Ryan.

And just to add more fuel to the fire.
Could and Should the Canucks Get Involved in the Letang Sweepstakes?
According to Rossi the Penguins would prefer to send Kris Letang to the Western Conference and are particularly enamored by "prospects with Anaheim and Vancouver" according to Rossi's sources. Wha?
The Canucks are dealing with a critical scarcity of salary cap-space at the moment, and would need to essentially move heaven and earth to fit Kris Letang under the cap (and then do so again to fit his theoretically lucrative extension, which would kick in a season from now). Is acquiring Letang worth the cost in treasure and cap-space? Would he represent enough of an upgrade over the likes of Edler, Garrison, Bieksa and Hamhuis to warrant the Canucks blowing up their hard won "internal cap" for defenceman?

Can only get 7 from another team, but would a 7x8 Letand be an upgrade on a 6x7 JBou for the Flames?

Right!
Letang scares me because I have a gut feeling much of (or maybe even just some of) his Norris play in Pitts came from playing on top offensive team in the league. I fear he'll be just good, playing on another team. 7/8m a season for good is worrisome.

kick yourself in the nuts
I agree, he has a whiff of Erhoff about him that is long term worrisome.

From the same article:
Kris Letang is an elite offensive defenceman in the National Hockey League, and pairing him with a player like Jason Garrison, Alex Edler or Dan Hamhuis would be a tantalizing prospect. He'd also immediately fix Vancouver's right-handed shooters on the power-play issue, and arguably give the Canucks their first elite 1A defenceman in franchise history.
Brought back memories of when Paul Reinhart played for us for a brief spell. Having a truly gifted offensive defenseman can transform your entire offence more than a 2nd line scoring winger ever could.

Arguably indeed.
$7+m a year for Letang seems downright odorous right now, but within a few years the no circumvention CBA will mean that contracts like that (and the ones Getzlaf and Perry got) are the norm for the top 2-3 players on a team.

Letang is not as defensively loose as Ehrhoff, nor is he afraid of the rough going. While he is a tremendous puck mover and PP QB, he's more than adequate as a defender as well.
While he's no Chris Pronger in physical toughness, he's not as soft and poor defensively as many suggest.
Letang would be an ideal replacement for Edler should Gillis opt to move him out. The fact he's only 26 is encouraging as well.

I think, if given the choice, I'd rather have Letang at 7 then Edler at 5...

That's a great way to look at it - +$3million in cap space to keep him, but he is absolutely ideal to replace Edler.
Howabout throwing in Luongo for MAF buyout?

That would work. The Pens get an upgrade in net + a Letang replacement.
OT, the Sabres seem to have issues re-signing Mr. Hodgson.

Is Cody’s dad being a bit of a dink again? Now there’s a real shocker!
Garrison / Letang
Hamhuis / Bieksa
Alberts / Corrado
Hmmm…
As far as Letang goes, for $7M I think I’d be interested. $8M is definitely pushing it.
